... We Don't Know... DEHB-1e?
DEHB-1e's original robotic body. CFROSS personnel are attempting to re-assemble the unit, in the hopes of returning her to her original condition.
What is DEHB-1e? Even DEHB-1e does not, entirely, know what "she" is. She knows, at one time, she was the central processor system for a hyper-advanced robot, a transformable robot; That somehow, for some reason she came to earth; That her ship developed a malfunction during landing, and crashed; That she was buried, deactivated, for many years, perhaps a millennia; That she was captured in the Middle East, by Bedouin Tribesmen who thought her a demon from hell. They attacked her with tubes of fire; She was damaged, moved off, and collapsed; There she stayed, for how long she doesn't know, but she knows it was several centuries. Then the cave, which she had sealed off, opened once more, and a man in a brown outfit, carrying another tube-weapon, came in and saw her. He, too captured her, and she, unable to move from the damage, could not stop him. This is the only date she has for sure; 14 Sept, 1916, and the man was US Army Capt. James SEDERMONE. He was in Arabia learning from his British Counterparts Desert Warfare, when he found the cave- Or, more precisely, the cave found him. He took one bad step, and in his foot went THROUGH the cave opening. Here, he found what he called a Golem; A machine, obviously man made, but broken. He thought it was German, but later analysis revealed was it was totally unknown.
Not realizing what he had, he had disassembled the working components and was studying them until WWII came along; Then he closed his offices and was sent to Europe. He never came back.
DEHB-1e languished there for 20 years until another militry officer, Capt Janice CABBOT, USAF, opened a previously forgotten file, and learned of "the Golem". A days later, she'd pieced the clues together enough to realize what Capt. SEDERMONE had had, and what promise it held. More importantly, she knew WHERE HE'D HID IT- In plain sight. He'd stored it at St. Catherine's Church; But there was no St. Catherine’s Church.
The following is the story, pieced together from Capt CABBOT'S reports and DEHB-1e's versions of events (DEHB-1e apparently suffers from split personality, a side effect of the WICKEDLY extensive abuses she's suffered).
Capt CABBOT, piecing together the papers, eventually built up a picture; On government money, he would purchase automotive fuel and travel, best estimate, 20 miles once a week. Where? Another receipt gave that clue- A uniform jacket purchased from the Marine Corps Exchange in San Diego. Capt SEDERMONE was an Army aviator; Why did he need a Marine Jacket? He didn't. He had wanted someone to know he'd BEEN at the Marine Exchange. The jacket, with officer's buttons, was hanging in the closet.
Capt CABBOT called the Marine Base in San Diego and learned there'd never been a St. Catherine's Cathedral there, nor in the city. So where was the cathedral?
On a hunch, Capt CABBOT checked the coat itself- And found a letter. Addressed to Catherine St. CLOUD, 228 E Westerford St., San Diego, Capt CABBOT THOUGHT she'd found the mysterious St Catherines' Cathedral- Until she discovered there was no Westerford St. At this point, Capt CABBOT drove down to San Diego and personally looked up the Marine Base personnel records. Perhaps Mz. St. CLOUD was an employee on base. A review of the records found no St. CLOUD- Catherine or otherwise. Capt CABBOT tried the other way; Looking for a Catherine who worked at the base at the time of the jacket's purchase.
A few days later, she found it- Catherine MANAORD, home of record- 228 Second Street. When Capt CABBOT went to that address, she found it was a church, near the base, that had been rooming unwed mothers during that period. And Mz MANAORD still was there- SISTER Catharine being a very helpful person. Sister Catherine very much remembered Capt SEDERMONE- The dashing WWI pilot who'd been here "very close friend." Sister Catherine didn't say the Capt had been her son's father, but after the war she changed his name to SEDERMONE (when he never came home, she knew he'd died).
When Capt CABBOT asked about "the Golem," Sister Catherine said she didn't know, but she did know that the Capt had left some statutes with the church, on the condition the church kept them. One look and Capt CABBOT knew what she'd found- A science fiction nightmare- A working robot! Capt CABBOT spent the rest of her life working on the robot, designated DEHB-1e- A fancy way of writing "Debbie."
When the cataclysm came, DEHB-1e was semi-on line, and trying to remember how her original body had been built so she could be re-inserted and placed back in the world. The staff of the facility were all killed during the chaos, but DEHB-1e lived on, and when CNG troops came, she was spirited away to a top secret research facility in Sacrament where she now works on robots and continues working on the Blackland projects she had been guarding before.

Weight: 13.31 tons (though she always said she was 12 tons even).
Cargo: She could carry up to 5 Human-sized people, or 2.3 tons of cargo.
Power System: An rather unknown power plant, it "burns" electricity somehow. This power plant COULD have beeen repaired if Capt Sedermone hadn't torn it apart. This remain the last major hurdle to DEHB-1e going fully on line. CFROSS Technologists have elected NOT to fool with the device.
Drive Systems: DEHB-1e can either walk or drive using standard robotic legs and powered wheels.
Cost and Availability: DEHB-1e's value is incalculable; Her computer brain is so unlike anything ever seen before that it can not be measured in monetary terms. A similar program platform AND operating system might be worth the mint. Her body would EASILY be worth a few BILLION credits to the likes of Triax, which would attempt to reverse-engineer her to build more. Fully intact and on line, she'd be worth BILLIONS UPON billions to Atlantis as a gladiator (but they'd probably just kill you and take her). Simply put- She isn't available. Get over it.
Black Market Cost and Availability: Simply put- She isn't and never will be. Get over it.
Weapons Systems:
None per se; However, she could use any firearm that a robot or human can, including those seemingly too small for her, and the Boom Gun could EASILY be used by her AT NO PENALTY, if her body was intact.
Note: These features refer to features DEHB-1e would have IF she were intact.
  • ESM: Radar Detector. Passively detects other radars being operated.
  • Radar: Combat grade radar. Range 100 miles, can track up to 50 individual targets. 95% reliability (24% against unfriendly stealthed vehicles).
  • Blue Force Tracker: Identifies friend from foe. Overlays the information on both the radar and HUD, ensuring that friendly forces are not accidentally targeted.
  • GPS: Standard tracking device. Ties into the Blue Force Tracker.
  • Anti-Jamming System: Reduces Electronics Countermeasure by ¾ (decrease skill level appropriately).
  • HUD: Displays maps, radar, targeting information, and any OTHER information the wearer wants directly in front of the user.
  • FLIR/SLIR: Forward and Side Looking Infrared. Allows pilot to get visuals on targets at night.
  • AJP: Active Jamming Pod. Causes -25% to detection but when it is active, other vehicles/bases can detect that it is jamming, and some missiles will home in on jamming signals. Jamming also causes a -4 penalty to all radar guided weapons. The jamming pod is only mounted inside the port taileron.
  • Video Camera: Records from the HUD. 50 hours of recording available.
  • Full range optic sensory suite: Infrared, ultra violet, Magnification, night sight, color filters, thermal imager. Range is about 200 miles for MOST sensors.
  • Telescoping Arms: A hallmark of C.F.R. tech is telescoping forearms. Extends the pilots reach by 6 feet.
  • Smoke dispensers (8): Throws out smoke flares capable of obscuring IR and heat sensors, and defeats visual tracking of the vehicle. Mostly used to cover landings and takeoffs.
  • Chameleon System: Pleizio-ceramic tiles darkened or lightened as necessary to render the craft invisible. These tiles, in conjunction with pleizo-plastic tiles, also make the wings, canards, tailerons, and the undercarriage skin of the fuselage VERY flexible, increasing the maneuverability of the aircraft.
Minimum Effective Distance: 2,910 feet.Note: Though the Chameleon System used on DEHB-1e is exactly the same as the CFR system, the two were developed COMPLETELY independently. The parallel development has many Victorian highly interested in WHY.
Combat Skill: DEHB-1e was the equivalent of Hand To Hand Expert, 6th level. However, she has NO combat abilities now.
