The Stormtroopers are the soldiers of the Syhith states, serving as ever-present reminders of the absolute power of Syhith Lords and are an icon of Forgotten Empire. These faceless enforcers are considered an extension of the Lords' will, using efficient yet brutal tactics to keep thousands of star
It's believed the stormtroopers were an evolution of a previous Grand Clone Army, stationed on naval ships as marines. The collapse and fragmentation of the Forgotten Empire led to the various Stormtrooper armies to be retained as soldiers under several successor states. As the successors fought the republic and each other for power the Stormtrooper ranks thinned until the Palpatinian Order brought the fragmented factions back under one roof- But as various Aprrentices proved their power they are granted the Stormtroopers at their disposal. The Stormtrooper Corps today is mostly made of clones, theough many recruits are brought in from outside the Syhith Orders. History Origins The exact origins of the Stormtroopers is unclear, mostly due to loss (and in some cases deliberate destruction) of the various records of the Forgotten Era. It is believed that a previous clone army morphed into a force of highly volunteers used to enforce the Forgotten Empire's laws by force of arms. Without any check on their power Stormtroopers were free to use all possible power to brutally enforce the new doctrine. Several wordls would serve as an example to all to show the new ruler's brutality to anyone else who contemplated defiance against the Empire. By the time the Galactic Civil War began in earnest the clones were largely replaced by clones based on a variety of templates followed shortly after by enlisted Humans. The original template clones were never able to come to terms with serving alongside recruits and different clones whom they dubbed as "the "new guys," viewing enlisted troopers in particular as incompetent idiots. Despite this the ranks steadily switched over to the recruits in the Stormtrooper Corps. Service was opened to both sexes, but female stormtroopers were an extremely rare sight. Once accepted into the stormtrooper Corps, every trooper was treated as an equal; Even between the sexes and species they shared the same barracks. Wearing the exact same white stormtrooper armor, one could not distinguish between the diffrences. For twenty-three years, the stormtroopers suffered few known large scale defeats until the Battle Of Endor where an entire legion supported by AT-STs was destroyed. This devastating defeat set the stage for the collapse of the forgotten empire from which they have yet to recover from. The renowned Grand Admiral THRAWN recovered several Spaarti cloning cylinders to build a new army of clone stormtroopers but the stormtroopers were unable to destroy the New Republic. The stormtroopers continued to suffer catastrophic defeats that inflicted a heavy strain on their numbers; Within 50 years of their original formation the Stortrooper Corps had almost been erased from attrition and even desertion. As the war entered its final phase the empire was reduced to a small collection of Outer Rim sectors which continued to employ stormtroopers. Despite the high level of casualties sustained throughout the war, the Stormtrooper Corps ultimately survived under the Imperial Remnant and other successor states of the fallen Empire, albeit as a broken shadow of its former glory. Following the treaty, stormtroopers were reduced to guard and police functions on the few thousand worlds that remained under Imperial control. However, some stormtroopers fought as soldiers to restore the glory of the Forgotten Empire. Although heavily reduced in numbers and material Stormtroopers retained much of their former duties, ironically as a liberating force to convince governments to join of their own volition instead of the standard strategy of coercion and conquest on various fronts. Necessity forced the remnant factions to loosen the restrictions on various species. Without the extensive resources and the unlimited manpower that the empire enjoyed in its prime (and now under the Republics control) the remnants had to make do with the few resources it had left. The recovery of partial Kaminoan technology swong the various factions back to the clone system, but now a much wider variety of templates are used. The decrease in the military's operational efficiency was partially compensated by a brutal training regimen that emphasized the stormtroopers' lack of individuality and total dedication to the ideals of the Galactic Empire. The gamble ultimately paid off as the stormtroopers were restored to fighting trim the shocl troopers of a new empire. Selection Candidates for selection must be tall (at least 6 feet) and within the allocated height to weight minimums (as underweight candidates often can not handle the rigors of training). In training all troopers are conditioned to be absolutely loyal to their emperor with little to no regard for their own lives or those of their comrades. After being compelled to participate in the empire's atrocities even this harsh indoctrination is known to waver, and many leave after their first term of service, while it is not unheard of for some to simply desert. Clone troopers tend to accept these atrocities more in stride, but most will leave after only a second or third term. At some point the Stormtrooper Corps adopted a relatively new tradition of recruiting the sons and daughters born "in the camp." All children born to stormtroopers, either during or after service, were encouraged to enlist in the Corps, making Stormtroopers a hereditary career. Since they were not legally forced to follow in their parents' example, an incentive was added to the unofficial policy through the Continuity of Service, which allowed new troopers to serve in the same unit as their parents. Another recruiting tool that they have utilized is the Imperial Mission, altering the common view of the Empire from an oppressive war-mongering forcetoon that spread their influence through peaceful methods, such as providing aid to worlds that were ravaged by the Sectarian Wars that continue well into the UGC Era. The Mission serves as a propaganga tool, but is also highly effective as a recruiting tool. Many of those aided by the Syhith and are eligible to do so enlist through the Mission. Although stormtroopers work alongside the Army, Intelligence and Navy, the Stormtrooper Corps operate independently of all branches of the imperial military with own command structure, ranking system, and support facilities. The basic unit of organization was the individual trooper. Each stormtrooper is assigned a designation for identification to reinforce uniformity. They are then organized into squads of 8, including a sergeant and a corporal, platoons of four squads with a lieutenant and a sergeant-major, companies of four platoons led by a captain, a battalion of four companies led by a major, a regiment of four battalions with a lieutenant colonel, and a legion of four regiments with a colonel. Officers Stormtrooper officers are graduates from the Imperial Academy. Stormtroopers who demonstrated skill can be recommended to the academy. Commissioned stormtrooper officers wear standard armor with rank squares to indicate status, non-comms are identified with a shoulder pauldrons. Their dress uniform is black, including a cap, boots, gloves and standard rank squares. A colored pauldrons system to denote rank in armor. The stormtrooper commanders were separate from the regular officers in the Stormtrooper Corps. Highly skilled in combat and leadership are widely regarded as superior soldiers to the more common stormtroopers. Because of their special status, the commanders are entrusted with command over their stormtroopers and were given authority to utilize them at their own discretion without requiring any clearance from a higher authority. Ideology
Loyalty, obedience and the readiness to die for their leader are the primary traits that are indoctrinated into all stormtroopers. Every individual trooper is fully expected to obey their superior officers without question or hesitance, regardless if they are required to unleash harm on others or even place themselves in extreme danger. Stormtroopers are well aware of their expendable status, and they are ready to lay down their lives to ensure the continuance of the empire. As such, this ideology, training, and discipline prevented them from getting distracted by emotional responses, to the extent of even ignoring casualties within their own ranks during combat situations. The only times casualties on their end is taken notice is from a tactical standpoint. Their ideology is such that they cannot be bribed or blackmailed, and is unswerving in obedience and unflinching in dispensing Imperial justice, and even going as far to state that their armor, helmet, and number is their skin, face, and name, respectively. Despite their intense indoctrination, enlisted stormtroopers are still capable of living civilian lives; They receive pay, are given periods of leave time, and under some circumstances were given opportunities to retire from service. Clone stormtroopers enforce their leader's authority with unquestioning loyalty due to their genetically modified personalities. They are genetically modified to suppress their individuality with unquestioning loyalty; Enlisted stormtroopers were rigorously trained to abandon their individual identities by embracing said loyalty. Stormtroopers are a major deterrent against ambitious officers who contemplated turning on their leaders. The loyalty that stormtroopers possessed was so complete that they could be neither bribed, seduced or blackmailed to abandon their allegiance to the empire. The fall of the Forgotten Empire has eroded that loyalty (even in the clone armies), but the core of the belief remains nonetheless. Stormtrooper Faith The Stormtroopers' come from a variety of religions but share one faith: That the Imperial Order is the way of the future. That the Imperial Order can bring order to the galaxy. That their Leader is the rightful ruler of the galaxy (or part of it). This is no small matter to the Stormtroopers; They adamantly believe that their leader can bring order to the chaos of the Rakatan Galaxy, which has been wracked by a sectarian war that has lasted over a billion years, plus at least three intergalactic invasions which have devastated thousands of systems to the point that as of the time of the UGC's arrival they were still uninhabitable. Most Stormtroopers leave after a few years, disillusioned with the faith after witnessing and usually committing atrocities "in the name of the Empire" with most retiring to a civilian life where they try not to talk about their past outside of the imperial territories. Some join various independent factions (traders, pirates, smugglers, local militias, police and fire departments, etc.). Few join opposition forces (Geh 'Dia allied forces), because those forces tend to assume the former Stormtrooper is an infiltrator (a reasonable assumption, since it's happened often enough in the past). The UGC will not allow former Stormtroopers to join the REF, but encourage them to join the various RDF's that have formed in UGC allied systems. Equipment 12th Generation Imperial Armor; In an attempt to increase efficiency in their forces, the Imperial Forces developed a singular unified armor. Pervious armors drew significantly from a singular source, but differentiated by job, ie fighter/bomber/shuttle pilot armor was one style, heavy armored vehicle driver another, ship's crews a third, etc. Stormtrooper armor, while it used elements of the Pilot's armor, was very different overall. Light armored drivers (AT-AT, etc.) didn't have any armor outside of their helmets. A preliminary research project revealed a very startling fact; The original armor for all forces was exactly the same, differentiated only by overall color and some markings. As that program proceeded forward certain changes requested by members of the forces were made to job-specific types (for example heavy armor vehicle drivers asked their air hoses be moved behind their heads to make instrument panels on the heaviest armored vehicles easier to see). With the new philosophy of the empire the armor was changed back to a universal model, making every trooper able to fill in any billet in their pay grade with equal ability, and altering the colors to match. Unifying the weapons outload also increased efficiency; Fighter pilots theoretically don't infantry weapons, and therefore could simply leave those (and their holsters for them) behind, but everyone would still carry the light blaster (on the ankle holster). Such modifications to equipment was made on a job duties level, though the full body armor would remain even over fighter pilot's (in particular) objection. Only Stormtroopers were allowed to modify their main gear, discarding the life support kit and air hoses on a mission basis. The Imperial armor kit would later be used by the REF as a model for their own Unified Helmet Kit, though the REF would give more flexibility to individuals on what gear to use and when (leading to Infantry quickly abandoning the full face mask entirely). White armor on black body suit: Stormtrooper. May or may not have the chest mounted life support module. White armor on blue body suit: Heavy armor drivers. Black armor on black body suit: Pilot. Black armor on blue body suit: Biker Scouts. Biker scouts do not have the life support module and hoses, and typically will not carry infantry blasters. Red armor on red body suit with capes: Royal guards. Royal Guards will not have the life support module and hoses, and may not have infantry blasters. They will however have alterative melee-based weapons. Regardless of duties, all have the basic body armor, helmet, facemask, ankle holster, and flight pack. Armor The armor worn by the Stormtroopers is fairly good overall, but not top of the line by any measure. It is basic armor capable of protecting against most medium and heavy arms, and was able to hold its own very well until the REF arrived. Even with it's inferiority to UGC weapons the Stormtroopers are able to fight to some degree of efficacy. The new armor style unifies the services into one style to increase efficiency. What changes is the presence or absence of the survival pack; While it's not normally needed for infantry, armor drivers and pilots do need them. Likewise armor drivers and pilots need less armor that infantry, and generally leave significant segments in their lockers. Even the once elite of elite biker scouts use the same exact armor as their infantry counterparts, discarding the E-16 in favor of their smaller backup pistol and using their bike-mounted weapons instead. Survival Equipment Stormtrooper survival equipment is surprisingly good considering the disposable nature of the Stormtroopers; Helmets have a space for air purifiers, but these are only used by infantry. For pilots and armor drivers a chest mounted survival pack are connected to the helmet by an air hose. The Stormtrooper's belts hold a variety of things needed in combat to deal with situations; Stimpacks that ease pain Bacta injectors to treat injuries long enough for proper medical assistance to arrive Anti-chemical weapon injectors based on the expected battlefield conditions Climbing cables with 50 feet of line and a grappling hook Energy bars for use in the field Water flasks and purifiers Radios Weapons Stormtrooper weapons over time have been designed as battlefield configurable short barreled rifles. For several millennia at least they were fielding the BlasTech E-11, sufficiently long that many forces still field them as their primary infantry weapon. However the arrival of the UGC demanded an upgrade in firepower; REF armor was completely impervious to the E-11. It wouldn't even reliably penetrate the clear face masks of Rifleman Power armor, and only in concentrated fire would it penetrate the torso armor. They drew inspiration from Terran colonies where AR-15's and their derivatives were common; The surprising discovery that a rifle could have such a short barrel (as little as 4 inches, though 6- and 7 inch versions were far mor common) and the modularity between components gave the Stormtroopers in particular much to consider. Based on ancient photos from Terra they developed an unfolding stock and a short mag for holstering and long mag for situations when combat is expected. Every trooper carries at least 4 long mags at all times; If combat is expected the short mags are exchanged for a fifth or more long mag. Because the weapon is a blaster (thus using excited gas projectiles) much of the Terran design limitations were removed, resulting in a rifle smaller than some pistols of the Rakatan galaxy; The 6 inch barrel, 13 inch folded/18 inch unfolded overall length made it extremely handy (increased by the fact that 3 inches of the overall length is behind the shooter's hand when folded). A version capable of mounting a bayonet was briefly tested and while effective was deemed insufficiently effective to justify further development. The weapon overall was only about 24 inches overall unfolded (some versions of the bayonet was 30 inches), and was simply too short to be of any use. The secret of the new gun didn't last long; Anti-imperial forces intercepted the first shipment of the first batch of guns, gaining everything necessary to build a factory of their own. They had unknowingly hijacked a factory ship, rather than a simple shipment. The ship disappeared quickly, and all of the technical specification were shared across the rebellion in hours. Only a few months after that the information fell into the hands of criminals, local warlords, and others and now it's about as secret as air. There doesn't seem to be too much of a hurry to transition over completely to the E-16 standard, but some systems and several gangs have. Robots
The advent of the UGC led to proliferation of mecha by the REF, forcing the Stormtroopers to adapt; The REF's Rifleman Power Armor made a single Robbie far more powerful than a platoon of Stormtroopers, and the Zulu-1 Destroid could overwhelm an entire Battalion without much difficulty. Efficiency had to return to the Corps, and advancing hardware had to come with it. In a rush to level the battlefield the Palpatinian Order independently began fielding an ancient type of robot, essentially a speeder bike with legs. This program failed so spectacularly that Osk 7351 was killed when she stood up on an "AT-RT" that she was using to try to survey the battlefield after thousands more had already been destroyed. To date this is the only Palpatinian killed in ground combat by the UGC. After that the program was completely abandoned, with hundreds of units literally abandoned in the field to rust where ever they sat. The open cockpit, slow speed (especially compared to air support), and limited weapons made the robot wholly inadequate in every consideration. This led to the deployment of AT-PT IIa, a light one man robot with enough firepower to support infantry and fend off larger machines, while being able to outrun most of the rest. Unfortunately the Syhith can not build the robots in sufficient numbers due to resource limitations, and have tested a few automated versions in the hopes of overcoming this limitation. It predictably failed due to heuristic limitations and ended up killing several of the Stormtroopers it was supposed to be supporting. A Syhith faction developed a Battloid (though technically it's only a robot), but the cost of building these machines is extremely high, and the Stormtroopers took to developing a simplified version themselves. The Syhith Walker is underwhelming, but is simpler to build and thus could be fielded in larger numbers that the Battloid if the resources could be developed. Ominous, the UGC has no idea where the Stormtroopers or Syhith in general are building the machines; They are NOT being built at the ECLIPSE-Class Super Stardestroyers, and in fact don't appear to be built anywhere in the Rakatan Galaxy or her satellite galaxies. This means they are being imported, and from where is the deeply troubling question. It is assumed the same network used to smuggle Syhith Battloids out is being used to smuggle Walkers in, but then why? Why import a machine in greater numbers than the superior machine they're smuggling out? Several of the Syhith have robots designed by themselves for their forces. Quality and quantity vary accordingly. Curiously, several are using a locally developed version of the Ultimax despite their abysmal showing at the Battle Of Ryin. Equally curiously, despite the ease with which they could do so all Imperial factions have stubbornly refused to develop power armor. Headquarters And Forces Stormtroopers do not have a headquarters per se; Their Leader is the 'headquarters.' However, aboard each flagship there is a series of compartments set aside only for their use; Included in these spaces is a set cloning clambers and small personal equipment factory. Each Syhith Lord or Lady is at their discretion what more facilities are provided, but most include a main base with more comprehensive cloning, manufacturing, and training facilities. More than one has an entire planetoid dedicated to these facilities, but most use a ship detached from the flagship. Post UGC Reorganization The advent of the UGC (and moreso the swift and essentially total annexation of the Rakatan Galaxy) forced the Syhith orders to reconsider everything. They had been part of an unsteady truce/alliance with the Republic and the Geh 'Dai, but this truce could not survive a new player in the minds of the majority of the Syhith (and many Republic and Geh 'Dia). The first major reorganization was the conversion to a UGC inspired Unified Model; No longer where the Stormtroopers one force, the Armored Corps another, the Army a third, and the Fighter Pilots a fourth but rather one force based on promotion from Corps to Corps based on ability. Stormtroopers overall are cheap, but armor isn't and fighters even less so. In keeping with this philosophy, the armor and weapons were changed to the unified system, one type of armor for all forces, with the allowance to remove or add pieces based on operational necessity. The remnants of the Army were formally folded into the Stormtrooper Corps and the Army as an independent entity ceased to exist. The command structure likewise altered; The generals in command of the various Corps now had to cooperate even when it wasn't convenient. To ensure this cooperation, Moffs and Admirals would assume overall command of imperial forces under their control; What they say goes, right or wrong. Non-Syhith Lord Factions Several imperial factions exist independent of any Syhith Lord or Lady; In those cases the Stormtroopers respond only to their leader, just like all Stormtroopers everywhere. In general these factions will not gain much in the way of support from the Syhith factions unless it serves the Syhith's interests.
There are a few Stormtrooper like forces that exist around the Rakatan galaxy. Many are retired Stormtroopers, a few are defectors. The most significant of these is 501ST Legion, which defected in its' entirety a few centuries before the UGC's arrival to the Geh 'Dia. Most of the post-annexation RDF'S are also heavily modeled on the Stormtroopers, though they scrupulously avoid the use of the Stormtrooper armor, especially the face masks (using an ancient pattern of armor). The all-white style is also avoided like a plague due to it's association with the Stormtrooper Corps. Brown and greens are very common, though the example here is a shade of grey. Due to these warriors generally being on their homeworld, full face masks are usually unnecssary, but those who do use them have clear faces so the soldier underneath can be seen- Again, a legacy of the Stormtroopers. Only 501ST Legion still uses majority white armor as a reminder to the galaxy that they were in fact Stormtroopers and have now defected. Often old Stormtrooper equipment is obtained (legally and otherwise). These are quickly spray painted any color other than white to disassociate it from the Stormtroopers as quickly as possible. Stormtrooper Corps Copies One of the more impressive of the Stormtrooper Corps modeled forces is the fully UGC funded 1331ST Infantry, better known as Rakatan Corps. Rakatan Corps is equal in size of 200 Legions, and is assigned directly to system Governors at UGC discretion to support their forces under the command of the governor. While the REF Spacy and Patrol still provide space based support reporting to the UGC, once landed the deployed Rakatan Corps will immediately start to link up with the local defenders and as soon as possible begin taking orders directly from them to support their operations as best possible. Rakatan Corps was formed specifically as a counter to a possible uniting of the Syhith and other imperial forces, using the Stormtrooper's general principles. The Rakatan Corps are instilled with the belief that the UGC is the ringer of peace to the galaxy, and they will march to war to defend that peace ISO the Council's allies. Unfortunately much like their imperial counterparts, Rakatan Corps members have seen atrocities committed, and as a result many leave the Corps after their first term, though few and far between feel compelled to keep their service secret; Most who do committed the atrocities in question, and are usually serving a prison sentence. 1331ST Infantry's armor is superior to the Stormtroopers (100 MDC, -15% prowl) and their weapons are standard UGC issued (Gallant H-100A Pistols and H-1100 rifles), but otherwise the two forces could easily be mistaken for one another. It was first formed as a police force for Ryin after the fall of the Hutt-installed ruler from local stock, but later was converted to an expeditionary force to support UGC allied systems on the advice of a former Stormtrooper who had defected post-discharge from the Corps. 1ST Battalion proved of limited value in policing the world, but when the Hutts tried to reclaim it several years later proved more than willing to fight with a savagery that even impressed Stormtroopers- Now even the most fanatical of imperial forces won't go near the system for fear of what might happen. Rumors of Huttese fighters being burned alive were at least partially confirmed, as the soldiers left their bodies in the desert outside of the capital- An atrocuty even the most hardened Stormtroopers won't commit under normal ciricmustances. After this, 1331ST members were reconsidered as support for allies off their homeworlds; This model has proven highly effective as long as their leaders maintain good order and discipline (no torturing enemies, kill them and be done with it). In order to dissuade concerns about abuses of power, the Rakatan Corps is only deployed at the request of a regional governor and placed under their overall command. While deployed they are not allowed to accept any commands from the REF except a full withdrawl (either the conflict is over or the governor has switched sides). One of Rakatan Corps duties during a deployment is to train a local force if there isn't already one into a suitable fighting force- A tough task for most, since the average Rakatan Galaxy inhabitant has been programmed to subservience by millennia of war and terror. This in turn has caused the formation of hundreds of "mini-Rakatan Corps" across the galaxy, though the quality of these fighters and their equipment can vary significantly. Rakatan Corps is an infantry unit, and does not have any robots or fighters. In fact, they won't even use UGC supplied power armors (a uniquely Rakatan objection that nobody quite seems able to fully explain). All of their robots and air support has to be supplied by other factions- Often the REF.

Secret More specifically "unknown." They've been around for so long they've essentially always existed. It's known a government created their predecessor, but who and when has been lost to history. Additonally, various governments now sponsor them and idnetical copies. | Utility Outfits (5): Every stormtrooper is issued 2 sets of black dress uniforms and 2 sets of complete body armor. Most will leave their survival pack in their lockers unless and until needed; As they advance, more armor is left lockered. Other clothes are issued on a mission by mission basis. | Electronic Supplies and Good Gear (5): Medical Equipment (1Ø): They are not issued the best of gear, but they are issued sufficient equipment to maintain the battle. | Basic Transportation (3): Stormtroopers generally ride into and out of battle on First Order Transporter but can use their Flight Packs if needed. Exceptions have occurred from time to time based on necessity and availability, but these are relatively rare since the First Order Transporter is part of the message.
Basic Weaponry (5): As they enter into a planned battle each Stormtrooper will have at least 6 thermal detonators and as many as 100 magazines for their rifle. Even in dress uniform they will carry their main weapon and a couple of mags. On average, Stormtroopers disdain outsider weapons. | Secured Service (1Ø): All Stormtroopers can communicate at all times to their command. They can also have private conversations over their radio network, though the Imperial authorities are listening at all times. Just not everyone else. Their coms are encrypted, but the encryption has been cracked on occasion. | Paranoid (4Ø): Either you are a stormtrooper or you are not. They will not discuss anything with non-Stormtroopers except under the most severe of torture or if they defect. Additionally, the lower down you go the less you know about whatever plans are being made- A security measure. | Partial Headquarters (2): Every faction leaves some space on their flagship dedicated strictly to the Stormtrooper Corps. Most make arrangements for planetside facilities whenever possible, but for most Syhith this isn't possible due to their outlaw status, or is very limited in scope.
Special Military Operatives (1Ø): Stormtroopers are no longer considered elite soldiers (not that they ever rally were, propaganda notwithstanding). However, they do have small teams of specialists in different militry arts that are useful for infiltration and sabotage. | Nickels and Dimes (5): Stormtroopers have no budget beyond that given to them by their Leaders. They have no needs beyond that given to them by their leaders. They do recommend new equipment, but they don't make anything themselves. The Dark Troopers are spies, assassins, thieves, etc… Anything the Palpatinians need done- They do. When a Dark Side Adept is selected into the Troopers, she goes through an initiation of sorts in which the adept was empowered with the dark side of the Force by Palpatine himself. The process is painful, as what seems like billions of volts of electricity coarse through the initiate's body for hours… More than one candidate has dies in the process. If they survive, they are sent to various Palpatinians to learn the secrets of the Order in burglary, seduction, murder, and even basic research (reading books to find correlations, usually deep old tomes detailing how to find a particular Syhith holocron from ancient days). However, the Emperor's Dark Geh 'Dia were unable to match the Geh 'Dai's power, and the Elite were withered down to a paltry few. In fact, one of their number, Kami SOLUSAR, defected to the New Geh 'Dai Order's side, and began to use their powers against them. With a high number of failures on their record, the Elite holed themselves up in their headquarters at Bast Castle on Vjun. It was there that the Geh 'Dia Order besieged them; The entire force was slain in the encounter with the exception of their leader Xenr NIST who died in prison shortly afterward. History Origins Following PALPATINE'S death at the Battle of Endor, many of his followers believed him gone for good. However, due to his many experiments with the dark side, he survived, and his spirit was able to make his way to a secure Imperial base on Byss. It was there that PALPATINE was reborn into his myriad of clone bodies that he had prepared on the dark world. Equipped with healthy young bodies, the PALPATINIAN Order made plans to retake the galaxy. To accomplish this task, they put into motion a military strategy known as Operation Shadow Hand, designed to overwhelm the enemy. To lead this grand venture, the Emperor would need brutal warriors that were totally devoted to his will- The Dark Troopers. In his writing of the Dark Side Compendium, pre-resurrection PALPATINE had imagined a team of Dark Geh 'Dia. These warriors would be totally immersed in the dark side and led by the call of the Order. With the Emperor's rebirth, Palpatine put this dream into action. Among his many ranks of Dark Side Adepts, Palpatine selected his group. Selection As his Military Executor and replacement for Darth Vader as the leader of the Imperial forces, Palpatine chose the Dark Geh 'Dia Qaga LOK, a descendant of Ulic QEL-DROMA. To be selected to the Dark Troopers, the candidate must be Female Humanoid Willing to totally submit to the Palpatinian Order. After a humbling ordeal in front of the Emperor, she swears her devotion to the Palpatinain Order and changes her name as the Order dictates. Operation Shadow Hand With his Dark Side cadre complete, the PALPATINIAN Order brought the fight to the New Republic. The Palaptinain Order was destroyed, but the Dark Elite knew that their leader would return, and continued on; The loss of their leader, their Emperors, even their ship (the BARRED) were only a temporary setback as the Dark Side Elite quickly sprung to clone the PALPATINIANS, recruited new members, and rebuild the Syhtih Order (at this point only beginning to bifurcate from the rest of the Syhith Order; only the Nighsisters were a separate order at this point). With their brotherhood full again, the Dark Troopers sent members to Balmorra to secure new weapons. However, with the absence of the Emperor, their threats fell on deaf ears, and Governor Beltane demanded independence from the Empire. In the following Second Battle of Balmorra, they were soundly defeated by Balmorra's forces; The Dark Troopers, on behanlf of the Palpatinaine order, was forced to rcognize Balmorra's independence. The loss at Balmorra was a critical blow to the Empire, and members of the Imperial Ruling Council began to call for the Dark Trooepr's collective execution. Instead they were recalled to the Emperor's Citadel on Byss. Darktrooper Team Two attempted to kidnap senior Republic members, including trying to force Mandalorian bounty hunters to work for them for free. Imperial spies were able to locate their target and piloted the INVINCIBLE over the city, where FASS and KATTH tried to capture the ship in a tractor beam. The targets escaped the beam which ripped a tower from the city; The tower skewered the INVINCIBLE, critically damaging the ship. The Star Destroyer plummeted into the city, killing the operatives. Another attempt to kidnap enemies resulted in the Battle Of Ossus; Dark Troopers found themselves facing Ysanna armed with spears and other primitive weapons and led by Geh 'Dai Masters (some the target of the operation, a few apparently there in residence, which is why the others were there).
Equipment Dark Troopers are issued a uniform that provides very light armor qualities, a sidearm, a lightsaber, and heavy armor that stylistically matches standard Stormtrooper armor but is heavier and painted with a black radar and themographic dampener. With rare exceptions, they were covered head to foot, including hands. Early Darktroopers were issued a fighter, but as time wore on they lost sufficient financial capabilities to continue and were forced to start obtaining their own transportation. Headquarters And Forces The Dark Side Elite had s base at Bast Castle. Besides a large landing pad, the building also contained a torture room which isolated their prisoner from the outside world, a carbon-freezing chamber, cloning tanks, and the equipment necessry to genetically alter the clones. After the defeat of the majority of the Darktroopers at Bast Castle, the survivors took to space permanently, using first the INVICNIBLE but later transferring to the various ECLIPSE-Class super dreadnaughts.
