womp rats, though there are RDF outposts throughout the region to watch for would-be smugglers. The former Tusken Clan's mountain hajj (house, or castle) was located in the northwestern most area of this desert. During the time of the Atorian Empire, a Star Temple was located in a cave in the eastern. Following the attack on the REF Outpost at Jundland, the REF dispatched 20 full Corps to eradicate the Tuskens. The Jundland Wastes are the rocky border of the Tusken Zone, consisting of canyons and mesas. The Tusken Clan survivors traveled the region a little bit, until the REF massacred them; Only Womp rats inhabited the region now. Several layers of rocks within the Wastes are tilted indicating graven formations. They also contained magnetic deposits which obscured sensors. The only significant native fauna are the Bantha and Krayt Dragon; Banthas are a species of large hairy mammals with sharp spiraling horns. They are social herd animals and were often domesticated and used by the Tusken survivors as mounts and companionship. Tuskens never kill them for their food or hide but are utilized by many other species for products such as bantha steak, butter, clothes, or furniture. The Krayt Dragon is a large carnivorous reptile native that grows continuously throughout their lives to an average length of almost 150 feet and weight of two 2¼ tons. They could live for a hundred years and did not weaken appreciably with age. A fierce hunter, the krayt dragon are an important part of Dune Sea enviroment. When summer mating season began, the howls of krayt dragons filled the canyons of Jundland Wastes. |
