A DWARF.
The Naugrim (commonly called “Dwarves”) are one of the 5 pivotal species of the Ring Worlds. They lived on Khazad, with the largest Clan being the Gonnhirrim and the largest Nation being Dwerrows. They are a proud and stern race and were made to be sturdy to resist the dangers of their world. They are physically stronger than average humans and Flyjts, and have great endurance, especially in the ability to resist great heat and cold, so they made light of heavy burdens. Dwarves lived up to two hundred and fifty years and have the ability to learn new skills quickly. A normal dwarf is stubborn and secretive, but loyal friends and allies. Fully 50,000 Sentinel Alliance members were Dwarves.
The thing they care most about is mining and metal crafts. They are not hurt by insults, but they have a dangerous propensity to hold a long-lasting grudge, both individually and as a collective. They know special skills and lived by mining for precious minerals such as gold, iron, copper, and silver from all over Khazad. In ancient times, they also found Mithril in the mines of Khazad-dum. They were also able masons, and smiths. They crafted many famed weapons, armors, and items of art and beauty, amongst them Narsil, the sword of Elendil, the Dragon-helm of Dor-lomin, and the necklace Nauglamír and built many famed halls including Belegost, Nogrod, Khazad-dum, and Menegroth.
Agriculture is not one of their strengths because they lived mostly underground. The number of Dwarf women were few, only about a third of their total number, which is the reason for the slow Dwarf population growth, and is in peril when dwellings are scant.
After the invasion of the Ring Worlds by the Atroians, the Dwarves generally fared better than the other Ring Races because of their knowledge of mining on two levels: Firstly, they were able to buy off the worst of the Atorian wrath by giving them what they really wanted, metals, and secondly when the Ators wrath did boil over the Dwarves were able to dig deeper to escape the worst of the bombardments; In fact, the only known and unaffected survivors of an anti-matter bomb were the Dwarves of Aule.
Dwarves will as a rule not tell people of other races their real names but take pseudonyms and keep their real names secret. This ended with the close of the Unification War, wherein the Dwarves were given the choice to join the Inter Planetary Alliance as full members, and therefore reveal their true names to be held accountable, or be interred on Khazâd as the Atorians were interred on Ferhan. They capitulated (internment is something akin to a death sentence, even to such an anti-social species as the Dwarves), but under the condition that their true name was never to be used against them.
“Dwarves, Dwarves are just weird. They believe their names hold some sort of mystical powers over them, and if an enemy knows their name they can use it as a weapons. Hell, they think a friend can kill them with their own name b accident. But then, see, here’s the thing- I saw this Dwarf fall over dead as a doornail after a Flyjt said his name, called him by it to get his attention, not being rude or disrespectful. Hell, it was role call for God’s sakes. But the Dwarf died. Right then and there. So ya, I think Dwarves are being ridiculous, but then again- Well, I mean results speak for themselves I guess.”

Business
Dwarves were and still are master craftsmen, and this hasn’t been impinged upon in the slightest by the advance of science. It’s been made WORSE. Whereas once they created marvelous metal things, they now create marvelous alloys and compounds. And they do so without even a hint of a thought to any unintended effects this may have. They neither understand nor care; Their attitude is that they only made a thing, they can’t be held responsible for who abuses it.
Breeding
Dwarves can breed with Humans and Atorians; The child thereof is more Dwarvish than otherwise, reaching a freakish height of maybe 5 foot 6 inch. They can breed with Paraxian, and these children reach a freakish height of 6 foot 8 inches. They can not breed with other species and produce a viable offspring.
