The RDF's noted the need for better security measures; Specifically, they needed something that just plain scared the holy living God-damned dogshit out of everyone. Omni A Standard ED-209. Service And Repair Manual. Standardized Line Drawing (click to enlarge). Consumer Products (OCP) offered the Enforcement Droid Series 209 (ED-209) to fill this need. Conceived as having a modular weapons system, the ED-209's arms are equipped with twin 25MM autocannons and twin .50-caliber machineguns; A notch behind the head could be loaded with twin mortars that can fire either standard high-explosives or gas grenades for crowd control. Finally the robot was armed with a pair of short ranged missile launchers in the forearms. Each launcher has two missiles. They are described being capable of use for urban pacification by the militry and utilizes a loud deep voice and growling noises to intimidate assailants. Once a threat is assessed to exist, only distance will save the intruder; Put simple, turn and run like Hell. They are programmed that anything beyond "X" line is considered a non-threat, irregardless what the nature of the threat had been. The ED-209 serves as a heavily-armed obstacle, however could not be deployed in significant numbers due to their dangerously low intelligence and tendency toWards clumsy malfunctions. In one spectacular example, an ED-209 reacted to an intruder by claiming she was "illegally parked." She had been driving a truck bomb. The unit was destroyed and over a dozen people died when the bomb went off. The ED-209 is only used in fixed site defense, due to their many issues; Additionally, they are programed to be permanently totally subservient to any BTL-41 Knucklehead. Like the PDD-01 Primary Defense Drone, the ED-209 can be set to "manual control" or piloted mode; Remove the mortars, top hatch, and central processor and inset and hook up a Type 3a pilot's station; The robot can now can be piloted. Deployment The ED-209 is far too stupid to be deployed anywhere that they aren't under direct supervision. For this reason, they are kept inside the wire. They are given specific patrol areas, called boxes, that they are NOT allowed to leave. Redundancies The only redundancy the ED-209 has is the ability for a Master station to take direct control of them; The drone's own sensors are damaged, the Master station can tell them where and how to shoot. Employment ED-209's are ONLY employed in defensive positions. They're just too stupid to do anything else. Controversy The ED-209 was developed by Omni Consumer Products as a new breed of law enforcement drone for the Detroit Police Department. However, OCP was Alex MURPHY. themselves creating much of the chaos that was engulfing Detroit (and other cities) at the time (during the worst of the Global Civil War's open chaos), and "conveniently" offered to bail out the city when they were in danger of defaulting on all debts. Detroit Police Department was taken as part of the collateral, making them effectively a private security contractor. When OCP's machinations came to light, one DPD officer, Alex J MURHPY, decided to strike… Both legally and physically. He broke into OCP's R&D department headquarters building (literally shooting his way in killing 2, for which he took accountability later) and stole the highly defective ED-209 prototype there, refitting it with a cockpit (partially made of an office chair, a Ford Escort steering wheel and a joy buzzer [trigger mechanism]) and led a siege on OCP's corporate headquarters- At First alone, but within minutes he was joined by approximate 3/4 of DPD's sworn officers (less than 10% refused to join the strike) and an estimated 1/2 million Detroiters who were ready to hang OCP's management, "no trial necessary" (fortunately, DPD overruled this and the survivors were later tried- in a US Federal Court). Officer MURPHY was later tried and convicted of multiple counts of First degree murder, but under intensive pressure from the people of Detroit, was sentenced to only 10 years in prison- To be served in the Detroit Jail. A year afterWards, "Inmate" MURPHY was seen wearing a Jailer's uniform, effectively back on duty. Even jail inmates spoke quietly and somewhat reverently of Alex MURPHY (many of their families on the outside were involved in the OCP uprising), and he was later referred to as "Saint MURPHY" even by the Detroit Catholic diocese (though never canonized). The ED-209 is still not allowed anywhere near Detroit, not half of Michigan or Illinois, and to prevent another such "accident" ED-209's are rarely allowed outside the security perimeter (as described above). They can, however, continue to defend themselves, and will do so- Quite violently, in fact. Anything within 50' that can not be positively identified as "Friendly" will be fired upon. **** Depleting the MDC of the Sensor Cluster will blind the robot, forcing it to use its higher controlling station to target; No bonuses to strike. They will usually be relieved by another unit at this point if possible. Their weapons systems will be taken off-line in this event, forcing them to defend themselves by hand-to-hand combat alone. Range In the Water: Unlimtied Maximum Depth: 20 feet (6.1m). Height: 25 feet (7.62m). Width: 15 feet (4.58m). Length: 15 feet (4.58m).		Weight: 8 tons. Cargo: None. Can not even carry emergency supplies. Power System: 14 batteries with 24 volts each; Lifespan: 24 continuous hours. A solar panel can be installed on the top of the torso, giving effectively unlimited on-station time. Cost and Availability: 60,000credit; Extremely common. The low price does make them highly attractive, but their simplistic heuristics aren't easy to overcome (still they have been found even in Tiresian Malcontent possession, showing their popularity).
Weapons Systems:
01. Quad 25MM Autocannon: The main gun is two pairs of 25MM autocannons. Used for self-defense. MD: Short Burst: 1D6; Medium Burst: 2D6; Full Melee Burst: 4D6 Range: 3,200 feet. Rate of Fire: Three short, two medium, or one long burst per melee. Payload: 400 rounds. 02. Quad.50-caliber Heavy machine Gun: Used for self-defense. Purpose: Anti-Personnel/Armor Damage: 7D6 per 5-round burst. Rate of Fire: 5 bursts per melee. Range: 7,000 feet Payload: Up to 5,000 rounds can be carried easily. 03. Close Range Mini-Missile Launcher: Developed from the GR-97 Forearm Missile Launcher used on the the VR-052 Battler Cyclone and built into the forearms of the ED-209. Purpose: Assault Missile Type: Plasma only. MD: 1D6 times 10 MD each. Rate of Fire: Individually or in volleys of 2 each per pilots attacks per melee. Range: One mile. Payload: 3 per launcher (6 total). Additional missiles can not be carried.		04. R-14 Mortars (2): Short range artillery support. Can fire high-explosive or gas rounds. Purpose: Assault MD: 3D6. Rate of Fire: Each mortar can fire twice per melee. Range: 2640 feet (804.7m). Payload: 5 per launcher (10 total). Half are high-explosive and half are gas. 05. Hand to Hand Combat: The same as the Heavy Assault Drones. Kick- 1D6 MD Leap Kick- 3D6 MD Body Block/Ram- 2D6 MD (counts as 2 attacks) Stomp- 1D4 MD; Effective only against objects 12 ft or smaller.

ESM: Radar Detector. Passively detects other radars being operated. Radar: Combat grade radar. Range 100 miles, can track up to 50 individual targets. 95% reliability (24% against unfriendly stealthed vehicles). Blue Force Tracker: Identifies friend from foe. Overlays the information on both the radar and HUD, ensuring that friendly forces are not accidentally targeted. GPS: Standard tracking device. Ties into the Blue Force Tracker. Anti-Jamming System: Reduces Electronics Countermeasure by 25% (decrease skill level appropriately). MRA 6 Radios: Allows real time, continuous radio link up with friendly forces in the area via satellite relay over laser radio signals, preventing jamming, and automatically encrypts/decrypts same to prevent eavesdropping.		Type-11 Wide Band Radio: Auxiliary radio; Effective 10 mile range, auto encrypt/decrypt. Works on standard radio band wavelengths, so it can still be jammed (if the enemy knows the frequencies). FLIR/SLIR: ForWard and Side Looking Infrared. Allows the robot to see targets at night. Virtual Map: Displays a continuously-updating map of local terrain for the bridge. Takes data from and gives data to other friendly units in the area. Effective navigation of 85% as updates come. Good to 500 miles. Specific range can be adjusted in 10,000 mile increments. Video Camera: Records from the HUD. 5,000 hours of recording available. Full range optic sensory suite: Infrared, ultra violet, Magnification, night sight, color filters, thermal imager. Range is about 20 miles for MOST sensors.
