charting missions for later settlement beyond the Empire. Further, each was equipped with thousands of probe droids based on the Tiresean Heavy Work Drone that could be released to announce to interlopers that this was a UGC system, and to alert UGC Forces of incursions.
Following the unification of the Kobolese Colonies the Royal Kobolese built the Galactica-Class to serve three functions: Fighter Carrier, Battleship, and Mobile Base Of Operations.
Originally equipped with two Viper squadrons, they discontinued carrying any for a while after the Annexation until the Beorje Crisis, at which point they were once again armed- This time with an additional 2 squadrons (for 576 ships total), plus another squadron in non-operational status ("cold storage"), and 36 Raptors (originally there only had 10 to 12 shuttles). The laser were cut back to 06 and the missile batteries were removed entirely as part of the same demilitarization policy that removed the fighters; The Beorje Crisis reversed the policy entirely, and in fact the Galactica- Class were slightly more heavily armed than originally- 10 of the original laser batteries were replaced with T'sentraedi-style batteries.
These robust and reliable designs are still in service with the UGC, despite their design age of well over 2,000 years (no ship currently in service is over 200, and no known hull over 1,000 years old exists). Many have become colonies in their own right, and most operate on a cash-basis; You give them the cash, and they will investigate any star you request. However, exploration can be dangerous work, and every year over 100 of these vessels simply disappear.
Name: Galactica-Class Exploration Vessel

Beam: 1,000 feet.
Length: 20,000 feet.
Weight: 200,000 tons.
Cargo: 500,000 tons.

Power Systems:
Primary: AMRS-1,002 (Anti-Matter) Lifespan: 200 years.
Secondary: Solar Sails Lifespan: Unlimited, but can not achieve FTL; Used for station keeping in system.
Tertiary: Emergency Batteries 20,000 Lifespan: 10,000 hours on emergency power status.
Cost and Availability: 100 million credits; Extremely rare.
Black Market: Not available; Though such a vessel would most definitely be worth a LOT to an interested buyer, these vessels are available on the open market, and questions have never been asked. Consequently, the only ones you'd find on the black market are stolen ships, and the price would have to be preposterously low the justify the risk of making such a purchase. However, parts for these vessels appear routinely on the black market.
Weapons Systems:
1. T'sentraedi Style Heavy Lasers (10): Still a highly effective design, it is an REF standard weapon throughout the fleet.
M.D.: 1D4 times 100 per blast.
Rate of Fire: Twice per melee.
Range: 200,000 miles.
Payload: Unlimited.

2. Automated Missile Battery: Each vessel is equipped with 02 of these missile turrets, one dorsal and one ventral.
Missile Type: Any MRM or LRM.
Purpose: Anti-Ship Defense.
M.D. and Range: Varies by type used.
Rate of Fire: Twice per melee.
Payload: Up to 1,000.

3. Defensive Laser Batteries (100): For anti-missile and meteorite defense.
M.D.: 5D6 per blast.
Rate of Fire: Per gunners attacks per melee plus bonuses (generally 4 or 5 per melee).
Range: 500 feet.
Payload: Unlimited.

4. Ships, Fighters, Power Armor, and Robots: These fluctuate wildly over time; Each individual mission has specific requirements and therefore the weapons platforms on board will be adjusted to those needs. However, the following is a GENERAL assortment:
Shuttles- 500
Space Fighters- 5,000
Guardian Fighters- 6,000
Veritech Fighters- 10,000
Destroids- 1,000

  • ESM: Radar Detector. Passively detects other radars being operated.
  • Radar: Combat grade radar. Range 100 miles, can track up to 50 individual targets. 95% reliability (24% against unfriendly stealthed vehicles).
  • Blue Force Tracker: Identifies friend from foe. Overlays the information on both the radar and HUD, ensuring that friendly forces are not accidentally targeted.
  • GPS: Standard tracking device. Ties into the Blue Force Tracker.
  • Anti-Jamming System: Reduces Electronics Countermeasure by 25% (decrease skill level appropriately).
  • FLIR/SLIR: Forward and Side Looking Infrared. Allows pilot to get visuals on targets at night.
  • HUD: Displays maps, radar, targeting information, and any OTHER information the wearer wants directly in front of the user. One is located at each weapons control station, and another makes up the majority of the bridge.
  • 1 MC: Internal loudspeaker.
  • Video Camera: Records from the HUD. 5,000 hours of recording available.
  • Full range optic sensory suite: Infrared, ultra violet, Magnification, night sight, color filters, thermal imager. Range: 200 miles for MOST sensors.
  • Virtual Map: Displays a continuously-updating map of local terrain for the bridge. Takes data from and gives data to other friendly units in the area. Effective navigation of 85% as updates come. Good to 500 miles. Specific range can be adjusted in 10,000 mile increments.
  • Survival Pack: A pack of simpler emergency survival supplies: Pup tent, sleeping bag, black light, GPS, first aid kit (bandages, gauze, bandage tape, pads, antiseptic/analgesic), plasma torch (for small repairs and starting fires), repair kit (with MDC Repair Spray), sewing kit (a small spool of thread and 5 needles), 7 star flares (250 feet apogee), 2 white parachute flares (1,500 feet apogee), 100 feet of black or brown parachute cord (150 lbs tensile strength), 2-5 days rations, 2 gallons water, water purification kit- good for about 10 gallons.
