Galactica-Class
Exploration Ship.
Kobolese Confederation.
Kobolese Confederation.
Following the unification of the Kobolese Colonies the Royal Kobolese Empire the GALACTICA-Class were developed to defend the Lords Of Kobol and enforce their will throughout their empire with three primary missions: Fighter Carrier, Battleship, and Mobile Base Of Operations. Over the course of 500 years the design evolved into the BATTLESTAR-Class Battlecarrier and converted to second tier battlecarriers and survey vessels, critical for system

charting missions for later settlement. Each was equipped with thousands of probe drones that could be released to announce to interlopers that this was a Kobolese system and to alert the empire to a possible incursion.
Originally built to support up to five Viper squadrons but only assigned two, they discontinued carrying any for a while after the Annexation until the Beorge Crisis at which point they were once again armed- This time with an additional 2 squadrons (for 576 ships total) plus another squadron in non-operational status ("cold storage") and 36 Raptors (originally there only had 10 to 12 shuttles). The laser were cut back to 06 and the missile batteries were removed entirely as part of the same demilitarization policy that removed the fighters; The Beorge Crisis reversed the policy entirely, and in fact the Galactica-Class were slightly more heavily armed than originally as 10 of the original laser batteries were replaced with T'sentraedi-style batteries.
These robust and reliable designs are still in service with the UGC, despite their design age of well over 2,000 years (no hull currently in service is over 200 years none over 1,000 years old). Many have become colonies in their own right, and most operate on a cash-basis; You give them the cash, and they will investigate any star you request. However, exploration can be dangerous work and every few years a ship simply disappears.
Most of the ships of this class are property of the Galactic Survey Agency and thus their security and protection are the responsibility of the REF. Those that are colonies in their own right have their own internal governance, but their militry forces are RDF and thus beholden to the REF. All Galactica colonies (and most colony ships) are mandatry carry states. This rise of the colonial survey ships is simply a reflection of the reality of long-duration surveys- After years of limited contact with the outside world the ships have a tendency to develop their own culture and more so the need to develop their own logistical capabilities.

  • Radar: Combat grade radar. Range 100 miles, can track up to 50 individual targets. 95% reliability (24% against unfriendly stealthed vehicles).
  • Blue Force Tracker: Identifies friend from foe. Overlays the information on both the radar and HUD, ensuring that friendly forces are not accidentally targeted.
  • GPS: Standard tracking device. Ties into the Blue Force Tracker.
  • Anti-Jamming System: Reduces Electronics Countermeasure by 25% (decrease skill level appropriately).
  • FLIR/SLIR: Forward and Side Looking Infrared. Allows pilot to get visuals on targets at night.
  • HUD: Displays maps, radar, targeting information, and any OTHER information the wearer wants directly in front of the user. One is located at each weapons control station, and another makes up the majority of the bridge.
  • 1 MC: Internal loudspeaker.
  • Video Camera: Records from the HUD. 5,000 hours of recording available.
  • Full range optic sensory suite: Infrared, ultra violet, Magnification, night sight, color filters, thermal imager. Range: 200 miles for MOST sensors.
  • Virtual Map: Displays a continuously-updating map of local terrain for the bridge. Takes data from and gives data to other friendly units in the area. Effective navigation of 85% as updates come. Good to 500 miles. Specific range can be adjusted in 10,000 mile increments.
  • Survival Pack: A pack of simpler emergency survival supplies: Pup tent, sleeping bag, black light, GPS, first aid kit (bandages, gauze, bandage tape, pads, antiseptic/analgesic), plasma torch (for small repairs and starting fires), repair kit (with MDC Repair Spray), sewing kit (a small spool of thread and 5 needles), 7 star flares (250 feet apogee), 2 white parachute flares (1,500 feet apogee), 100 feet of black or brown parachute cord (150 lbs tensile strength), 2-5 days rations, 2 gallons water, water purification kit- good for about 10 gallons.
  • Combat Bonuses from Galactica-Class Combat Elite:
  • 4 additional attack per melee.
  • One additional Attack Per melee at levels 3, 6, and 9 with any additional bonuses for the pilot.
  • +4 Initiative.
  • +5 entangle/snare/grab, Parry, Dodge, and Roll.
  • +5 dodge.
  •  Many Galactica-Class ships are now colonies in their own right, and as such would have colonial stats; Most of the stats are somewhat flexible, only the hulls are absolutely fixed (as the ships are built to a specific standard).
     General Information
     Name:
Many names. In all cases the ship and colony's name is the same, though most are created before the ships or colony start forming.
     Head Of State: Governor.
Administrative Body: One member per every roughly thousand is chosen the represent the members of the colony in a congress that selects the Governor who appoints a Captain subject to approval by the congress.
     Ship's Commander: Captain.
Note that the Galactica Colonies (as they are collectively referred) not not allow the Governor and Captain to be the same person at the same time. The governor mostly serves as a referee for congress meetings, and occasionally as chief negotiator for potential contracts. These contracts must then be approved by the congress. Once the operational mission has begun, the Captain has sole operational control of the mission, and can terminate the operation if they deem an excessive risk has arisen. This order can not be challenged at the time given, but can (and usually is) afterwards and in some cases has resulted in Captains being relieved of their command (though this is relatively rare, as the colonies overall are fairly risk-adverse).
Due to the need for strong defenses, all Galactica-Class colony ships have a full ROBOTECH DEFENSE FORCE, which is paid for and trained and equipped by the REF to their standards; Additionally, every member of the colony over the age of 16 are part of the ship's internal security forces. However, most people aboard are there for a reason, and as such only minimal security measures are really needed.
Size and Orientation: City Size (500).

Top Priority; Everyone's lives depend on it. Semi-Self-Sufficient; There's a lot they can do, but missions over 10 years will strain resources beyond most colony's ability to sustain. Private Security Force; Everyone over the age of 16 is part of the security forces. Full Hospital; Very rarely will a colony have to send people out for treatment that can't be accomplished on board.
    I: Security Systems:
    J: Environmental Systems:
    K: Independent Business:
    L: Transients:
Medium Security Measures; The reality is there's very little need. Everyone on board should be there by invitation. Super Advanced; Air, water, everything that can be recycled is (in part by the agroponic and related systems). Small Business; Sometimes a member will start a side business as a coffee shop or small restraint, but there's not many real options. 5%; Very rarely a guest will come aboard for a mission, reports on missions, training, etc. Despite the extremely temporary nature of these guests, there is very regularly some onboard.

    Olympic-Class Colony Ship.
    Kobolese Confederation; High Nenomause Commonwealth;
    Freng Mercantile Republic.
    Clariont Flag Of The UGC.
The Olympic-Class and KEYSER- and Concordia-Subclasses were specifically developed as Galactica-Class colonial variants with assistance from High Nenomause and Freng. The KEYSER-Subclass were never developed to any significant degree. Techniques derived from Kobolese ship design (notably the large biodomes) allowed the ships to be semi-expanded to increase options producing a ship that can serve almost any non-militry purpose equally and are not intrinsically fixed-dimension (hulls can be built to accommodate as few as one or as many as 30 pods in three rows of 10 each, though one additional thruster is required to every 3 domes). The UGC gave extensive support to the development of the Olympic-Class in order to have access to the blueprints and development details; This was secretly in support of Project Galactique. The potential of having a fleet capable of evacuating 90% of society appealed greatly to the powers that be. Because the Olympic-Class was meant for long-duration habitation (being colony ships), they are typically armed in a manner consistent with their size and usage.
The ships are outfitted with D-31, WALL●E, VI.N.C.EN.T., and Gonk series drones make the majority of the the ship's drone compliment and MDD-03 Micro Drones are also used for making repairs and looking for vermin. Exocomps are also used but in smaller quantities. Centurions are commonly included on Kobolese flagged ships.
