"For over a thousand generations the Geh 'Dia Knights were the guardians of peace and justice in the Old Republic. Before the dark times. Before the Empire."-Obi-Wan KENOBI, Honored Geh 'Dia | A Geh 'Dia is a member of the Geh 'Dia Order, which studies, serves, and uses the mystical energies of the Force; More specifically Ashla, the 'light side' of the Force. The Geh 'Dia fight for Order, Justice, and Peace in that order for the Rakatan Galaxy (and now beyond, though limitedly), often against their mortal enemies, the Syhith, who study Bogan, the 'dark side' of the Force. Although the Order was virtually destroyed several times, the Geh 'Dia lived on due to the heroic efforts of several Geh 'Dia who would rebuild anew on the ahes of the previous Geh 'Dia Order; Luke SKYWALKER for example founded the New Geh 'Dia Order, based out of Yahveen, to defend first the New Republic, and later its successor, the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances, until the Yahveen Paraxiuem was destroyed and the Order forced to take flight; This was a pre-planned evacuation for which the Order had prepared since it's inception, based on the history of the Rakatan Galaxy, and thus the vast majority of the Order indeed survived this assault, rebuilding within the decade to nearly it's former size. The Geh 'Dia practice honesty, compassion, mercy, self-sacrifice, and other positive emotions. For the most part, the Geh 'Dia simply referred to this as the Force, though the full name, according to the Geh 'Dia and Syhith texts, is The Way And The Force Of The Universe In Flux. |

Legal StandingTechnically, the Geh 'Dia are subordinate to The Rakatan Senate, a standing body of about 20,000 beings representing every system, and most worlds, within the Rakatan Galaxy. That's the black letter law; The fine print and white-letter law is, the Senate rubber stamps what the Geh 'Dai do. It's merely a practical mater; The Geh 'Dai are boots on the ground, the Senate on Corsucant is too far away to effectively address a rising matter. The Senate does control the Republic Navy and the Republic Army, but requests for help from those two entities don't even go through the Geh 'dia Council, but rather directly to a regional commander. (Requests for assistance from the REF go through the Geh 'Dia Council, then to the Rakatan Senate, then to the United Galaxies Council, then to the Spacy and Army, and then, finally, to the force commanders.)The UGC, being such supreme pragmatists, would like to do away with the Rakatan Senate entirely, but the Geh 'Dia themselves are opposing such action, as empowering them to act without a higher authority to answer to in turn would grant them extraordinary political control, and history has shown the need for a check and balance system against 'rogue elements' of the Order.HistoryOriginally formed as a philosophical study group, the Geh 'Dia became revered as august guardians of peace and justice in the galaxy. As mystical wielders of the Force and their glowing, signature Lightsabers, their powers inspired awe in most of the galaxy's citizens. The calm, considered demeanor of the Geh 'Dia made them ideal brokers of peace in times of conflict or dispute. Yet, for all their power and diversity, the Geh 'Dia were few. Often beset by foes in times of doubt and confusion, undercurrents of evil often challenged their order and the establishment they served, the most notable being the Syhith. These dark warriors were the antithesis of the Geh 'Dia, their sworn enemies, and the battle between them brought the galaxy to war more than once. In times of crisis, the Syhith influence could even block the sight of the Geh 'Dia Order. The way of the Geh 'Dia is the way of wisdom and patience, backed by swift and decisive action when necessary. However, the Geh 'Dia Council sometimes showed what appeared to be a lack of decisiveness, such as during the Mandalorian Civil War, preferring to work with events and patterns over the long term.On 21 March, 1638, at 2341 hours, however, the Geh 'Dia Order was crushed; The exact details of this event are unclear, but it's known that a betrayal within the order caused it's destruction, and the rise of the Syhith Order. The Syhith Order lasted 200 years, when a combination of an internal breakdown and the rise of a single Geh 'Dia, a Knight named SKYWALKER, crumbled the Order. He established the New Geh 'Dia Order at the current site of the Praxeum on Yaveen (once a Syhith Temple). During the Dark Times, the Geh 'Dia continued to exist, but handed down parent to child, while the Geh 'Dia remained in hiding. During this time, not a single Youngling, Padawan, or Geh 'Dia turned to the Dark Side.Geh 'Dia Knight SKYWALKER, with steeled determination, Lightsaber, fighters, blasters, ships, missiles, and a nearly Dark Side anger, destroyed the Syhith Lords (they had tried to turn SKYWALKER, but barely failed, according to then Grand Master SKYWALKER in his Recollections). With the Syhith Order broken and the few surviving Syhith's forced to flee underground, SKYWALKER founded the Praxeum.Unfortunately, in 1983, the Syhith attacked the Praxeum, and destroyed several computer cores and killed most of the Geh 'Dia at the complex; Many went underground once more, but the Praxeum managed to rebuild. In reaction to this event, several subordinate Halls were established, spreading the Geh 'Dia across the galaxy. After the arrival of the UGC, secondary Praxeums were established on Garuda and Devoone (Milky Way Galaxy). It has been said, "Pity the poor Syhith who violates Garuda; The body may never be identifiable." Only one such attempt has been made; It was after what the force-insensitive Garudans did to the 200+ Syhith in that attack that the saying came to be. Only by DNA could 'most' of the bodies be identified. (Not said in 'polite' company is that the survivors were ROASTED ALIVE like pigs- And eaten. The Force sensetive Garudans did not participate in this inhuman war crime, but not only knew of it but allowed it to happen knowing it would, and helped to cover it up.)PathThere is no emotion; There is peace. There is no ignorance; There is knowledge. There is no passion; There is serenity. There is no chaos; There is harmony. There is no death; There is the Force.-From "The Geh 'Dia Code." | Becoming a Geh 'Dia requires the most profound commitment and astute mind. The life of a Geh 'Dia is one of sacrifice. To hinder transgression, those who showed an aptitude for the Force were taken directly from birth (or soon afterward) to train in the Geh 'Dia Temple headquartered on Yaveen or at smaller Geh 'Dia Enclaves. From the beginning of their training a Geh 'Dia was expected to adhere to a strict Code that included concepts such as rational thought, patience, and benevolence. Emotions such as hate, anger, and fear were thought to be destructive and lead to the Dark Side, so such things were banned from Geh 'Dia practice.TrainingAll youthful Geh 'Dia were initially called Younglings and instructed in "clans" by a venerable, experienced Geh 'Dia Master, learning the ways of the Geh 'Dia and the powers of the Force. After Ruusan it had become normal that the Geh 'Dia trainees were always children. Once Yaveen had been established as Geh 'Dia headquarters, the Geh 'Dia initiates, which were no longer children, were trained first under the direction of Geh 'Dia Master Luke SKYWALKER, and, in time, under another Master's direction in groups. With the New Geh 'Dia Order, the Younglings were trained in clans since childhood once more. When an individual student achieved satisfactory understanding of the Geh 'Dia way, they were usually taken under the wing of another Geh 'Dia member and instructed individually to complete their training. Masters typically brought their Padawans along on missions, and later sent them on missions on their own, for them to gain experience and learn from practice.Lightsaber Training"The crystal is the heart of the blade. The heart is the crystal of the Geh 'Dia. The Geh 'Dia is the crystal of the Force. The Force is the blade of the heart. All are intertwined: the crystal, the blade, the Geh 'Dia. You are one."-Luminara UNDULI, during a Lightsaber construction ceremony. | The traditional Geh 'Dia weapon is the Lightsaber, which, in the hands of a skilled wielder, could be deadly in combat, even against opponents armed with ranged weapons. To attain this level of skill, however, required great focus and training. Students practiced the rubrics of Lightsaber combat with a remote, and children used wooden training Lightsabers. They also dueled fellow Geh 'Dia as a contest of their skills. Due to all the weight being in the hilt, Geh 'Dia needed heightened awareness, thus, such conditioning honed their attunement to the Force. Since the binding of a Lightsaber's intricate innards and the initial charging of the power cell also required knowledge of the Force to implement, a Geh 'Dia was tasked with constructing their own Lightsaber as part of their training, using special crystals that focused the Lightsaber's blade.During the Geh 'Dia Civil War era, many Cerean Geh 'Dia used specially-forged Kasha Lightsaber crystals as a meditative tool; By incorporating such crystals into their training regimens, they helped to clear the wielder's mind of distractions, even during tense physical combat. Further, it was a task in itself to find components for the Lightsaber. Meditation in a crystal cave on a planet such as Ilum or Dantooine would often produce an image in the Geh 'Dia's mind about the Lightsaber they were to build. The construction of a Lightsaber was considered a milestone on the path to Geh 'Dia Knighthood, and took on a heavily symbolic meaning. It should be noted that the Geh 'Dia have several different Lightsabers, but the RED is indicative, most probably, of a Syhith, as they specifically believe in the use of artificial crystals in the Lightsabers.Lightsaber crystals tend to indicate a Geh 'Dia's class.Blue: Guardians, who used the Force on a more physical level; Soldiers, spacers, law enforcers/first responders, etc.Green: Consulars; For lack of a better word, the Geh 'Dia's "chaplins," reflecting on the mysteries of the Force and fight the dark side at its heart.Orange: Negotioators and diplomats.Yellow: Sentinel, a Geh 'Dia who honed their skills in a balance of combat and scholarly pursuits. It's also said that the yellow lightsabers indicated a more "playboy" attitude; Strip clubs and bars were where'd you'd find them, pretending they're not Geh 'Dia, and unfortunately this tends to be true; It's also true that most Geh 'Dia, if they truly made their crystals entirely themselves, eventually become yellow bladers, as they learn that not every situation requires their assistance- And that many require them to stay silent and watch. They are sardonically referred to as "undercover Geh 'Dia." Yellow lightsabers also tend to be the shortest- It makes them easier to conceal.Purple: Redeemed Syhith; A warning to all, this Geh 'Dia WAS a Syhith once. To their credit, most of the greatest of all Geh 'Dai were, once, Syhith.Gold: Lightly skilled; Does not indicate class however, only the strength of the wielder, but is usually a dire warning; "This is no mere Geh 'Dia you're facing. This is a Master (or even possibly a member of the Council)."Bronze: Only the strongest Geh 'Dia can make these crystals, and only after many years and many tries. It is a sign, usually even to the maker, just how powerful they really are- And a warning to others. "Back off."Silver: Extraordinarily calm. Occasionally someone will mistakenly believe this means they are weak. These are the Geh 'Dia LEAST likely to use their Lightsabers- And just use the Force to pick you up and slam you (perhaps violently) against a bulkhead, then set you down rather gently and "strongly suggest" you might want to sleep this one off (without using mind control). Despite, or perhaps because of their calm, they will often be the first to turn to violence, but also the first to stop using it. But make no mistake- They WILL leave you with a few new bruises for your poor choices.White: Common soldiers of the Syhith Lords are known to use this type, It is merely a mark of rank, and not usually a practical weapon.Black or Darksaber: Stronger than average lightsabers, they use a normal power plant, resulting in damage to the crystals and therefore a black color. These are wielded by non-force sensitives and by Geh 'Dia and Syhith alike trying to hide their true nature.Way Of Life"The Geh 'Dia use their power for good. The Geh 'Dia are selfless. They only care about others."- Anakin SKYWALKER, Honored Geh 'Dia. | It should be noted that there were two Geh 'Dia Orders, the "Geh 'Dia Order" and "New Geh 'Dia Order"In following the Code, Geh 'Dia behavior was rigidly structured to uphold self-discipline, responsibility, and public service. The Geh 'Dia conquered emotions and materialism. They honored life, the law, the order itself and the master-student relationship. | Annexing the Rakatan Galaxy wasn't always easy and beautiful... |

Geh 'Dia rendered aid to support and defend the weak; compassion was "encouraged." Rules of engagement included such notions as understanding the dark and light in all things, learning to see accurately, opening their eyes to what was not evident and exercising caution, even in trivial matters. Above all, Geh 'Dia upheld their duty to the Republic and embraced the Force. The Geh 'Dia before the Ruusan Reformation typically had more leeway in their dealings, as the Order was more loosely organized and the individual Knights and Masters granted greater personal freedom. Afterwards, the Order was more centrally regulated by the High Council.Early Geh 'Dia were known to utilize shields and armor to protect themselves in battle, and used blaster pistols as well as Lightsabers in combat. Later, as the Lightsaber became a more self-contained weapon without an external power pack, the Geh 'Dia chose to carry it as their sole weapon of defense and offence. The Lightsaber came to fulfill both a symbolic and pragmatic role for the Geh 'Dia; it identified the wielder, had a powerful visual impact, and given the availability of cybernetic replacement limbs might have been seen as a more 'clean' weapon than the blaster, which Geh 'Dia came to regard as "clumsy" and "random."The Geh 'Dia of the pre-Reformation Era also do not seem to have had any formal dress code, and dressed more or less as they saw fit, although traditional robes were favored by most Masters. These included a tunic, a cloak, and sometimes a tabard- Usually in varied tones and shades of white and brown, though gray was also quite common for the overtunic. The left side of the dress was always turned on the right part of the torso. After the Reformation, these robes became the typical Geh 'Dia clothing, even in battle. The Geh 'Dia also wore trousers, an obi, a leather utility belt, where they carried specialized field gear for their missions, and leather boots. The Geh 'Dia colors, which showed harmony with the Force, formed a stark contrast to the antithetical Syhith, who were draped primarily in black.In accordance with their philosophies of non-attachment, clothing was viewed as quite disposable. Indeed, possession itself was seen as forbidden as another form of attachment, and most Geh 'Dia lived out lives of materialistic poverty, though the Order's infrastructure and the support of the Republic meant the Geh 'Dia did not lack for food, housing, or clothing.Post-Ruusan Geh 'Dia were forbidden to hold strong attachments, as they were believed to lead to the emotions of the Dark Side. For this reason, Geh 'Dia were not allowed to marry. Although Geh 'Dia were not required to be chaste as well, many Geh 'Dia were due to sex being considered a self-indulgence and an unnecessary act.. Several were disciplined by the Council for marriage for having child, but most were not expelled from the Order.Despite this restriction, Geh 'Dia were known to have secret, clandestine relationships, within and without the Order. Many of these relationships did not lead to mishap.Others openly defied the High Council on this matter. This led to particular strife during the Great Syhith War; Some weakly-trained Padawan fell to the Dark Side. These incidents caused some Geh 'Dia to leave the order.Up to the Ruusan Reformation, some Geh 'Dia did practice marriage and were known to have families of their own. There were even cases of families consisting entirely of Geh 'Dia, such as that of Andur SUNRIDER. The children of Geh 'Dia families were often gifted in the Force. Even later in the order, such families existed- though the continuation of the line was through those family members who did not become Geh 'Dia. Famous Geh 'Dia families of the late Republic included the KOON family and the DIATH Family."You know us Corellian Geh 'Dia- Notoriously contrary and bent on going our own way"- Geh 'Dia Master Corran HORN | The New Order fully rescinded this policy; The founder, Luke SKYWALKER, had married a Mara JADE, reformed Syhith Padawan and assassin, before he was even vaguely aware there had been such a rule. As he himself was raised up in a Geh 'Dia home, it never occurred to him to think any other way. His sister's husband was a normal human, a ship's captain occasionally engaged in 'unusual trade' (his bill of lading's were occasionally not quite so particularly detailed).The way of the Geh 'Dia was a life-long path, and a Geh 'Dia usually remained part of the Order their entire life, learning more about the Order and the Force and following the will of the Geh 'Dia Council. Up until the beginning of the Clone Wars, only twenty Geh 'Dia (of rank Master or higher) were said to have ever left the Order (although there is some debate as to whether this means the post-Ruusan Order, the Order after some earlier point in its history, or literally in its entire history), of which the most prominent were Count Dooku and Master Phanius. These were commonly referred to as the Lost Twenty, or simply "The Lost.""May the Force be with you."-Geh 'Dia well-wishing phrase. | "They were an aristocracy, winners in a genetic lottery, and there was something about the lack of merit required that rankled with Mandalorians."A Manldorian's thoughts on Geh 'Dia. | The Geh 'Dia were unified by their study of the Force: an "energy field" that emanated from every living thing. The Geh 'Dia sought to understand the Force so that they could use its power to protect and aid the people that they served. The Geh 'Dia believed that the Force could be harnessed through careful study and contemplation to benefit the user and the world around them. As they studied the Light Side of the Force, the Geh 'Dia encouraged their members only to use the Force for healing and defense- Never in anger or fear. Unfortunately, several of the Geh 'Dia order throughout history disagreed with this view, arguing that other, darker uses of the Force should be allowed. This disagreement was one of the main issues the Geh 'Dia faced in their constant battle with the Syhith."A Geh 'Dia's strength flows from the Force. But beware the Dark Side. Anger, fear, aggression.The Dark Side of the Force are they. Easily they flow, quick to join you in a fight."-From Recollections by Grand Master SKYWALKER; He attrubted it to another, but would never say who. | The Dark Side of the Force brought with it a great temptation for many Geh 'Dia; To many the Dark Side seemed a quicker and easier path. Pursuit of the Dark Side, however, was a self-destructive endeavor, and many Geh 'Dia who tasted dark powers found it harder and harder to turn away. Though some Geh 'Dia could be redeemed back to the path of the light, many fell and became Dark Geh 'Dia, some of whom were members of the Syhith Order. Further, the pall of the Dark Side could diminish Geh 'Dia ability, clouding their insights into important matters. For these reasons, practice of dark Force powers was expressly forbidden by the Geh 'Dia Council. Those fallen to the Dark Side, however, the Geh 'Dia tried to save. To the Geh 'Dia, killing was a last resort. This quality was at once a strength and a weakness of the Order.The Three Pillars of Geh 'DiaThe strength of the Geh 'Dia Code and organization rested on three core tenets.- Self-discipline;
- Knowledge, as contained in the Geh 'Dia Archives; and
- The Force, a universal energy that binds all things, living or not.
When used correctly, these allowed a Geh 'Dia to solve any problem and overcome any obstacle, helping to make the Galaxy a better place.Geh 'Dia RanksAs Grand Master SKYWALKER rebuilt the Geh 'Dia Order, he established formally a new rank structure for the Order. He based the structure on the older order's informal system:Hierarchy- Geh 'Dia Initiate (or Youngling or "Geh 'Dia Hopeful")- a Force-sensitive child. Often a prospective Geh 'Dia was detected through blood sampling -- those with great Force potential had high midi-chlorian counts in their bloodstream. At a very young age, children were removed from their families and assigned to the Geh 'Dia Temple for training. Younglings were taught in communal groups known as clans.
- Geh 'Dia Padawan- an apprentice who began serious tutelage under a single Geh 'Dia Knight or Geh 'Dia Master. In order to graduate to Padawan status, an Initiate was required to be chosen by a Knight or Master and taken as their sole pupil. If a youngling was not chosen to be a Padawan by 13 years of age, the youngling was placed into another, lesser role in the Geh 'Dia Service Corps, or they could choose to leave the Order. Depending on where the student's talents lay, this might be the Agricultural Corps, the Medical Corps, or the Exploration Corps. Padawans who were of a haired species typically wore a long braid of hair behind their right ear. When a Padawan was elevated to Knighthood the braid was cut during the knighting ceremony. At least a few Geh 'Dia, though, were elevated to Knighthood simply by being told that they had passed whatever trials were considered necessary- most notably Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Vergere. Some exceptions of late acceptances to Padawan training were made, most notably in the case of Anakin Skywalker.
- Geh 'Dia Knight- a disciplined Padawan could become a fully trained Geh 'Dia once they completed "the trials." The known trials were, but weren't limited to: the Trial of Flesh, the Trial of Courage, the Trial of Skill and the Trial of Self (also known as "facing the mirror").
- Geh 'Dia Master- a Geh 'Dia Knight who showed great understanding of the Force and managed to instruct a Padawan and train them successfully to the level of a Geh 'Dia Knight. This title could also be achieved through the performance of extraordinary deeds. Self-proclamation of the Geh 'Dia Master title was rare and frowned upon by the Geh 'Dia Council (for example: Jorus C'BAOTH and his unknown clone Joruus C'BAOTH).
- Geh 'Dia Councilor (or Council Member)- A very few Geh 'Dia were invited to serve on the Geh 'Dia Council, the governing body of the Order. The Council was made up almost exclusively of wise, experienced Masters (in the waning days of the Order, one Knight, Ki-Adi-Mundi, served as a Councilor, but was undergoing the process of becoming a Master at the time of his invitation). Another Geh 'Dia Knight, Anakin Skywalker was appointed to the Council by Supreme Chancellor PALPATINE, although he was not granted the rank of Master simply because of this. The Council was made up of 12 masters, five of them with life terms (two of them designated as "senior"), four as long-term, and three short-term.
- Geh 'Dia Grand Master- The highest rank of the Geh 'Dia Order is the Grand Master. S/He is comparable to the Chairman of the UGC and Chairman of the REF Defense Board. Master SKYWALKER was the first recorded Grand Master, a position he had not created, but which other Geh 'Dia of the New Order requested he fill- When he at first refused, due to his 'personal history (as he put it), they stopped 'asking.'
A Geh 'Dia Knight or Geh 'Dia Master could have only one apprentice at a time, and the Padawan had to be promoted to the rank of Geh 'Dia Knight before another apprentice could be chosen. Several thousand years before the events of the Ruusan Reformation, however, masters were allowed to have more than one apprentice, as evidenced by Master Arca JETH having three- The brothers Ulic and Cay Qel-DROMA and the Twi'lek Tott DONEETA. When the New Geh 'Dia Order first began, Luke SKYWALKER had to assign several students to one master due to the few Geh 'Dia in the Order; For example, Kyle KATARN had Jaden KORR and Rosh PENIN both assigned to him.Later on it was once again required that any one Master have only one Padawan- Unless the Padawans were siblings. This lead to Master VONTO having FOUR Padawans at the same time, 2 boys and 2 girls, all form the same mother and father- Neither of whom were Geh 'Dia.SpecializationBeing a Geh 'Dia was a life of great variation as the Geh 'Dia Order had several responsibilities. While many Geh 'Dia were generalists, some would specialize in one or more areas either in accordance with their own interests and preferences, or because they were delegated responsibility for an area that required specialization. With these specializations often came specific Geh 'Dia ranks. Moreover, in certain periods of the history of the Galaxy, some Geh 'Dia would assume military ranks fighting alongside Republic forces.Military and Warfare Ranks"Wars not make one great!"-Unknown Geh 'Dia. | In times of war, especially when Syhith forces were involved, Geh 'Dia would sometimes assume military ranks and command Geh 'Dia Military Units, so Geh 'Dia indeed became soldiers, not just keepers of the peace.- Geh 'Dia Commander- A Padawan serving as a Commander in the Geh 'Dia Forces, the Geh 'Dia Commander was assigned to a Geh 'Dia General until knighted. Once a full Geh 'Dia, the Padawan is referred to as General.
- Geh 'Dia General- A Geh 'Dia Knight who had been placed in command of an Order Army. Considered a full General.
- Commandant- A member of the Geh 'Dia Council serving as a Geh 'Dia General during the Clone Wars, the Geh 'Dia High General would not only command their own army, but also supervise other Geh 'Dia Senior Generals, Geh 'Dia Generals and Geh 'Dia Commanders. Yoda, Obi-Wan KENOBI, and Mace WINDU were all notable High Geh 'Dia Generals.
- Geh 'Dia Lord- A Geh 'Dia who served as a commander of an Army of Light during the New Syhith Wars. The Geh 'Dia Lord assumed this title mainly out of political motivation (to piss off the Syhith Lords), and the rank was abolished after the war.
In addition to the ordinary military ranks, there were a number of ranks and titles based on specialization in areas of warfare and combat.- Geh 'Dia Gatemaster- The Geh 'Dia who serve as the keeper of the main entrance at the Geh 'Dia Temple. These Geh 'Dia were usually trained in a special (and secret) way.
- Geh 'Dia Guardian/Warrior Master- A Geh 'Dia Master who was especially skilled in battle, the Guardian (Warrior Master at master level) would concentrate mainly on martial training and combat in general without losing focus on diplomacy and the philosophies of the Force.
- Geh 'Dia Consular/Sage Master- A Geh 'Dia Master who was especially skilled in applications of the Force, the Consular (Sage Master at master level) would concentrate primarily on the diplomacy and the powers and philosophies of the Force. Similar to the Force Warrior.
- Geh 'Dia Sentinel- The balance point between Guardians and Consulars, Sentinels would focus on balancing between applications of the Force and combat skills. Grand Master SKYWALKER was, technically, a Sentinel.
- Geh 'Dia Weapon Master- A Geh 'Dia Master who focused solely on battle, the Weapon Master was among the greatest fighters of the Order, but also had very limited insight into philosophy and non-combat related Force skills.
Healing"We can kill, but we can also heal. Thank the Force for that." A Geh 'Dia Sentinel during the Syhith Order. |
- Geh 'Dia Healer- Some Geh 'Dia would focus on the more Humanitarian aspects of the Force, specializing in Force powers based on Force healing. In addition to knowledge of such Force powers, also had extensive knowledge of medicine and medical technology. Geh 'Dia healers were normally stationed at the Geh 'Dia Medical Corps Infirmary, but would also serve in the field. For instance, around the time of the Clone Wars, Geh 'Dia healers would serve aboard MedStar frigates and, occasionally, in Republic's mobile surgical units ("Rimsoos").
Non-militry Titles (culture, history, and knowledge)Some Geh 'Dia would specialize in lore, such as the history of the Galaxy, the Force, and the Geh 'Dia Order, producing invaluable knowledge.- Geh 'Dia Archaeologist- A Geh 'Dia who had specialized in gaining historical knowledge through archaeology, the Geh 'Dia archaeologist was often a member of the ExplorCorps and involved in expeditions of various kinds.
- Geh 'Dia Historian- A Geh 'Dia who had specialized in chronicling the history of the Galaxy and the Geh 'Dia Order, the Geh 'Dia historian knew virtually everything about the past of the Geh 'Dia Order.
- Geh 'Dia Librarian- A Geh 'Dia who had specialized in administrating vast databases of knowledge, the Geh 'Dia librarian was in charge of an important Geh 'Dia library, such as the ancient Great Geh 'Dia Library, the library of the Geh 'Dia Enclave on Dantooine, or the Geh 'Dia Archives.
- Geh 'Dia Geologist- A Geh 'Dia who had specialized in geology.
- Geh 'Dia Consular/Sage Master- A Geh 'Dia Master dedicated to the mysteries of the Force, the Consular (Sage Master at master level) had deep insights into the philosophies of the Force and was a highly skilled user of many Force powers.
Liaison and diplomacyGeh 'Dia are often called upon to act as impartial diplomats, mostly due to the Order's traditions of detachment from secular society and the phenomenon of Force-guided intuition. They serve as moderators and negotiators during disputes, and their judgments are usually recognized as just and binding. When acting as diplomats, Geh 'Dia take the utmost care to be impartial and fair-minded. The legacy of this impartiality is such that, decades after the Geh 'Dia Purge and the accusations of the corruption of the Geh 'Dia Order, the legend of Geh 'Dia impartiality lived on in the memories of some sections of galactic society. Some species who respected the Geh 'Dia (for example, the Barabel) retained a tradition of calling upon a Geh 'Dia's impartial judgment even for minor interpersonal disputes.Whilst any Geh 'Dia could function as a mediator or diplomat--for example, Obi-Wan Kenobi, also known as The Negotiator due to his skills in this area- Two dedicated classes of "diplomatic Geh 'Dia" are known to have existed prior to the Geh 'Dia Purge:- Geh 'Dia Sentinel- Geh 'Dia that sought a balance between the intensive combat training of the Geh 'Dia Guardians and the wider philosophical views and teaching responsibilities of the Geh 'Dia Consulars. These Geh 'Dia ferreted out deceit and injustice, bringing it to light. They were generally employed in scouting missions and were skilled in security, computers, stealth techniques, or medicine, and also had diplomatic skills. Having said that the title of Geh 'Dia Sentinel was an ancient one dating back as far as the Geh 'Dia Civil War, and seems to have fallen into disuse by the time of the Geh 'Dia Purge.
- Geh 'Dia Watchmen- Geh 'Dia Watchmen were charged with overseeing a particular system or sector, thus serving as a type of liaison officer between the system or sector and the Geh 'Dia Council as well as the Republic in general. Geh 'Dia Watchmen were often highly skilled in diplomacy and possessed knowledge of the culture of the system or sector they oversaw. Often Geh 'Dia Watchmen originated from the system or sector they were tasked with overseeing.
While negotiating militry events have mostly come to an end with the advent of the UGC, lesser, and occasionally violent, disputes (such as protracted labor disputes) are often negotiated by the Geh 'Dia. (Make no mistake, labor disputes can and have escalated into limited, but protracted, wars in some systems.)Criminal investigations and preventionThe Geh 'Dia Order also actively partake in crimefighting as part of their role as keepers of the peace in the galaxies. They loosely police the galaxies, but there were also groups of Geh 'Dia specializing in crime detection, investigation, solving, and prevention.- Geh 'Dia Investigator- A Geh 'Dia specially appointed by the Council to uncover hidden and obscure threats to the Galaxy such as powerful criminal syndicates, corruption and conspiracy against the Republic and other shady menaces. The Geh 'Dia investigator would often work alone and undercover to infiltrate suspicious organizations or would be busy investigating some act of crime.
- Geh 'Dia Sentinel- A Geh 'Dia Sentinel was the perfect balance between the Geh 'Dia Guardian and the Geh 'Dia Consular, possessing great skills in combat and knowledge in the force. This type of Geh 'Dia functioned like both the Geh 'Dia investigator and the Geh 'Dia Shadow, rooting out and destroying both crime and the Dark Side. In addition, the Geh 'Dia Sentinel also had skills in various other studies. However, it is unclear whether the Geh 'Dia Sentinel as a distinct class survived the Ruusan Reformation, and the title was an ancient one dating back at least as far as the Geh 'Dia Civil War.
- Geh 'Dia Shadow- A Geh 'Dia whose job was to seek out and destroy any sign of the Dark Side of the Force, the Geh 'Dia shadow was the Geh 'Dia Order's primary weapon against the Dark Side up until the Clone Wars. The Geh 'Dia Shadow was a Geh 'Dia tasked with infiltrating Dark Side groups and cults to expose them to justice. Shadows also serve as the Order's spies.
InstructionIn addition to the Master-Padawan model, some Geh 'Dia had specialized in teaching aspects of the Force and the skill required to be a Geh 'Dia.- Geh 'Dia Instructor- A Geh 'Dia accountable for giving general teachings to Younglings, Padawans, or the occasional older beings. Sometimes Council members, who were frequently at the Geh 'Dia Temple, where initial instruction commonly took place, served as Geh 'Dia instructors. However, most such mentors were stationed at a Geh 'Dia Praxeum or academy.
- Geh 'Dia Battlemaster- A Geh 'Dia highly skilled in Lightsaber combat, the Battlemaster was the Lightsaber combat instructor of a Geh 'Dia Praxeum, Temple, or Academy.
- Geh 'Dia Trainer- A Geh 'Dia student or Geh 'Dia Knight responsible for teaching and instructing a certain aspect of the Force, the Geh 'Dia trainer was a vital component in the education of Geh 'Dia Knights in the early years of the New Geh 'Dia Order.
Geh 'Dia Funerary RitesThe Geh 'Dia believe it is critical to carry out the proper funerary rites as soon as possible; Each species has differing customs, and all are respected, but must be carried out.- Fallen Geh 'Dia- Deceased Geh 'Dia. "True" Fallen Geh 'Dia die at the hands of an enemy, but few outside the Order itself understand this difference. The importance of this difference is that a "Fallen" Geh 'Die's body can not be properly interred, and therefore are doomed to a limbo-like existence.
- Honored Geh 'Dia- Deceased Geh 'Dia. "Honored" Geh 'Dia generally means those that died of old age, disease, and etc., but more critically have been properly interred.
Allied and Related GroupsOnly in the last 300 years has it been realized that the Geh 'Dia were not the only Force users; It is believed most of these groups are splinter sects of Geh 'Dia that formed during one purge or another, and some possibly formed by Syhith.Geh 'Dia Heavy IndustriesOnce the UGC had wrested effective control over the Rakatan Galaxy, they need someone to help them administer and police it; There was only the Geh 'Dia on any large scale, and they did not have the kind of industry to make this plausible. With assistance from the UGC, Geh 'Dia Heavy Industries (GHI) was formed to provide the equipment necessary to do so- And, in the process, help rebuild the Rakatan Galaxy. |
Allya, Founder Of The Witches Of Doothier. The Witches of Doothier. | Allya, Founder Of The Witches Of Doothier. | |
---|
The Witches of Doothier were a group of Human and Humaniod Force-sensitives native to the planet Doothier. They were also known as the Daughters of Allya in honor of the rebel Geh 'Dia Allya, who was banished to the planet around 6,000 years ago, and who they regarded as their ancestress. By the time of the UGC, Allya's descendants had divided into female-dominated clans that were named after regional landmarks. Each clan had a unique set of rules regarding Force usage, but all the clans held one rule above all others: "Never concede to evil."Their origins were a bit unusual; Around 600 BBY, a Geh 'Dia , possibly even a Knight, named Allya arrived on the wilderness planet Doothier, apparently a rogue exiled by the Geh 'Dia Council to meditate on the Force in enforced solitude. On her arrival, however, she encountered other Human exiles. Linguistic evidence suggests that elements of the planet's Human population had been largely isolated from the wider Galaxy since the days of the Paecian Empire, in 3,000 BBY or earlier, while later Doothieri tradition claimed that the inhabitants Allya found had been exiled for producing illegal battle droids; What is not clear from available evidence is whether the earlier settlers had arrived in a single group long before Allya's time, or if in fact Doothier had been used more continuously as a penal colony over the millennia. One other factor in Doothier's past that may be relevant, but seems to have been forgotten to future generations, is the existence of a Syhith academy on the planet in the final years of the New Syhith Wars, shortly before 1,000 BBY. This was one of the more prestigious training establishments of the Brotherhood of Darkness, ranked with the Iridonia Academy second only to the newly-founded center on the ancient capital of Korriban, and trained the Syhith equivalent of Geh 'Dia Knights: but it is not known how long it lasted for, or if it left any permanent legacy on the planet. What is clear is that by the time of Allya's arrival, the Human population had become prey for the dominant sentients at the apex of Doothier's native food-chain: the rancors. But when Allya assumed leadership of the population, events were set in motion that would lead to the development of a unique Human culture on Doothier, founded on the enslavement of the male population to Force-sensitive female warriors, the transformation of the rancors from predators to allies, and the authorship of the Book of Law.Native accounts sometimes attributed the shaping of Doothieri society entirely to Allya, presenting her as a lone woman among a rabble of helpless men, mere snacks for herds of hungry rancors until they became her willing slaves. These traditions insinuated that Allya reduced the population to willing subjugation in a single lifetime, with the few who did not follow her becoming food for the rancors; Among her followers, favored slaves were offered the chance to become mates, in the knowledge that if they fathered sons, they would be fed to the rancors. The boys were raised by other slaves to become slaves themselves, whereas the daughters of Allya were raised by her and trained in the ways of the Force. This account claims that Doothieri society was forged in a single generation, and traces the ancestry of every Human on the planet to a single mother and her daughters- The eldest of whom was said to have been just sixteen local years old (about twenty standard years) when her Geh 'Dia mother died. But while this version was largely accepted as accurate by the New Republic, it is likely to be at least partially legendary. The linguistic influence of Paecian in the Doothieri language shows that the Human population had been established for rather more than two millennia when Allya arrived, indicating the existence of a viable breeding population; and even under the New Republic, the Singing Mountain Clan remembered others who had not been "daughters of Allya", and who had gradually faded as distinct groups over subsequent generations.Nevertheless, it is likely that the key event in the forging of Doothieri society was Allya's discovery that she could tame the rancors using the Force, with the resulting symbiosis between female rider and mount dictating subsequent social patterns. The attribution of the Book of Law to Allya is probably also correct: a codification of the moral and ethical laws that she wished for her daughters to follow, written down shortly before her death. The final entry of the Book of Law was the same as Allya's last words to her daughters: "Never concede to evil."Culture:Over time, the Doothieri divided into a number of distinct clans, a process sometimes framed in retrospect as a power struggle between Allya's elder daughters. These clans were named after regional landmarks, and although they shared a common tradition, each clan eventually developed their own set of laws about Force usage around the common core of inherited teachings, with the text of the Book of Law diverging into several distinct clan versions. The clans raided each other for mates, with low-level conflict being entered into cheerfully by the warrior women. The number of clans fluctuated somewhat over time: in 8 ABY there were more than a dozen clans, but by 12 ABY, the number had been reduced to nine. Perhaps the most prominent of these groups was the Singing Mountain Clan, due to the contacts it established with the New Republic and Hapes Consortium, while others were located at the Frenzied River, Misty Falls, Red Hills, Dreaming River and Great Canyon. Each Doothieri clan was based in a fortified village at or near its eponymous landmark. Women served as warriors and leaders, with leadership typically held by the eldest in a clan. Matriarchs aged a century or more were not uncommon, and in exceptional circumstances (as with Rell) they could be to close to 300 local years old (four centuries standard). Men were used only for breeding and slave labor, clad in nothing more than leather aprons or simple tunics, and neither they nor the women seem to have realized that they retained latent Force potential. Typically, warriors were expected to find mates by capturing runaways or slaves from other clans, but the leading clan sisters could purchase men from each other, and if a mate could not be persuaded to love his owner, the equivalent of an amicable divorce could be enacted by selling him to another woman. The only way a man could go free was if he saved the life of a woman in his clan.As a warrior society, the Doothieri Witches trained daily in the art of war, and used both their muscles and the Force to aid them in combat. They wore their hair in elaborate braids (sometimes with a helmet decorated with mementos) and lizard skin armor. Over time, the Force powers of the Witches came to be largely defined in the form of "spells", where they chanted a specific set of words and the desired effect was produced.Crimes were punished by exile, particularly the use of the Dark Side; this was often thought of in terms of "night spells", but punishment was also applied when a sister used anger to fuel an otherwise permissible Force power. If a warrior wished to return to the clan, she had to undergo a period of exile for purification purposes before she would be allowed back, often extending to several years; but some, known as Nightsisters, remained in exile, and these exiles sometimes banded together to form a clan of their own, or occasionally took over an existing clan, although no more than one Nightsister clan is known at any one time, and they were always opposed by the rest of Doothier. Recorded History: In 340 BBY, the Geh 'Dia training vessel Chu'unthor crashed on the surface of Doothier. The now-numerous warrior-women attacked the vessel, and three Geh 'Dia Masters, Gra'aton, Yoda and Vulatan, were dispatched to rescue the stranded passengers. The Geh 'Dia's attempts to rescue their comrades and recover the ship were repelled with the death of fourteen of their number, but Yoda made a return visit to negotiate a settlement with a young Witch named Rell. In exchange for releasing the stranded passengers, Yoda gave Rell a box full of information on Geh 'Dia teaching methods, and told her to safeguard it until a Geh 'Dia Knight and his apprentice arrive to save Doothier from the Dark Side using Witch clan calling themselves the Nightsisters.A few years before the outbreak of the Clone Wars, a Nightsister clan which had gained access to some off-world technology attempted to activate the ancient Kwa construct known as the Infinity Gate, but this was foiled by Geh 'Dia Knight Quinlan Vos, and Doothier subsequently remained dissociated from wider civilization until the Galactic Empire discovered the planet in the course of their war against the Drackmarians. In 0 ABY, Palpatine ordered a new penal colony to be constructed on Doothier, but when he discovered the power of the new Nightsisters leader Gethzerion, he ordered all the prison's starships destroyed, stranding the Imperial garrison and the convicts. The Nightsisters took the stranded Imperials as slaves and plotted ways to leave the planet, although a pair of Star Destroyers prevented the arrival or departure of any spaceships. After the Battle of Endor, the Doothier system was seized by Warlord Zsinj, who established shipyards around its moon, Koratas. In 8 ABY, however, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Chewbacca, Leia Organa, and Prince Isolder of Hapes arrived on the planet and helped to liberate the clans of the tyranny of the Nightsisters and the Warlord. Augwynne Djo of the Singing Mountain Clan was given legal title to the planet as nominal Queen by Han Solo, enabling her granddaughter Teneniel Djo to marry Isolder as an equal. Luke Skywalker also received from Rell the discs Yoda had left with her years earlier, and several Doothieri later joined Skywalker's Geh 'Dia Praxeum to learn the ways of the Geh 'Dia.Although Doothier joined the New Republic, Imperial interests in the planet remained active. In 12 ABY an expedition under General Vit and Sigit Ranth was dispatched by the Imperial Remnant to investigate the Infinity Gate, and forged an alliance with a new Nightsister group, although they were foiled by the Geh 'Dia. In around 19 ABY, the Great Canyon Clan was infiltrated by an Imperial Intelligence operation led by Brakiss, designed to transform the clan into a recruiting pool for the Shadow Academy; under Brakiss' manipulation, the women of the Great Canyon Clan declared themselves Nightsisters and, more radically, accepted their men as equals. This latest threat was eventually ended with the defeat of the Second Imperium, but soon after, Doothier was attacked by the invading Yuuzhan Vong, although the planet resisted the attackers, and after the Liberation of Coruscant a permanent Geh 'Dia enclave was established under the leadership of Kirana Ti, Damaya, and Streen. Jacen Solo studied under the witches of Doothier after the Yuuzhan Vong War.ClansEach clan is made up of around 12,000 to 14,000 members. When a given reaches between 15,000 and 18,000, the clan will split into two, with 500 to 1,500 forming an advance party at the new clan fortress, then in about 3 to 5 local years later a follow on party of roughly ⅓ of the current clan. Once the full Clan Fortress is built, the remainder of the clan will follow on, splitting the original clan roughly in half. By custom, other clans may not attack the new nor original clan for 10 years. Nightsisters tend to obey this custom out of self-preservation; Whenever they rise above 5,000 members, the other clans, as one, swoop down and kill them (occasionally, now, with REF assistance in the security zone).WeaponsThe Witches are not known, generally, to use Lightsabers, but it is not totally unknown; This practice is far more common amongst those who have traveled off-world, especially to the Praxeum. Instead, they make primitive-styled weapons, such as spears, and imbue them with the Force (effectively 'enchanting' them), which makes them virtually indestructible. They can be destroyed by other like-weapons, or lost to enemies and thieves, or course.RelationsRelations with the New Geh 'Dia Order are steadily improving, despite a deep decline over the 2,000 years the two factions have been associated; About 200 years ago there was a full-fledged falling out and even a "war" of one day in which some 200+/- Geh 'Dia and Dootheirians died. The exact casue of the falling out is unclear, but it was around the time of "The Malaise" and may have been related to that event.Relations now are very strong, and there's talk, every once in a while, of shipping female Geh 'Dia Padawnas to the Witches for their training. The talk never goes anywhere of course, but the Praxeum approves any request to be sent to Doothier with little, if any, comment. The UGC: Relations with the United Galaxies Council were never that good to begin with, and it's only the Geh 'Dia Order's friendship with the council that prevents the Witches from open contempt, even violence, with "the invades." However, the Witches are warming to the Galactics, however slowly; A Witch even applied and was approved to attend the Kyhron KRAVSHEEVA Militry Academy and appointed a First Lieutenant, REF Army. She resigned her commission at the first opportunity without penalty (5 years), but she did serve and is entitled to the right to keep her uniforms, which she has."Friends"The term "friend" with the Dootheirians is... Strained. The simple fact is, the Witches really don't like anyone. But there are some groups they get along with better than others...They are genuinely fond of the Knaeck, with any Knaeck able to find shelter amongst the clans. The Witches see in the Mimbari a kind of kindred spirit, especially amongst the Warrior Caste. The Witches are also open to Tamarians, and in fact are amongst the few groups that speak only in the Tamarian idiom. In fact, they do not "allow" Tamarians to speak outside their "strange" encoding. The Witches are appreciative of the Swiss Custodes literal fight for religious tolerance. There are a few others, but Dootheirians are "rather prickly" and don't warm to others very well. Or at all.EnemiesAbove and beyond all else, the Nightsisters are the enemies of the Witches of Doothier, and if the two meet anywhere but Doothier, you'd better run- A battle to the death has just begun. It is considered shameful in a way not understood outside the Witches nor the Sisterhood to flee from a fight of this nature except under the most extreme conditions- Death, even rape, is considered less shameful. On more than one occasion, the Geh 'Dia have had to intercede on behalf of a Witch who did flee, but for good reason- to alert the rest of the followers of the order. The REF had to step into a full-fledged war that had been going on for weeks between the two factions, with hundreds already dead- Sending the Army in. In Destroids. With orbital bombardment to back them up.And they two factions KEPT fighting, beating off the REF only as much as necessary to keep going at each other. It's not that they hate each other- It's genocide. They want nothing more that to annihilate each other. The Syhith Order is as much a threat to the Witches as it is to the Geh 'Dia, though the Orders seem more focused on each other. The Mandalorian Collective hates the Witches, but not "as" much as the hate the Geh 'Dia. As long as the UGC remains a viable player in the Rakatan Galaxy, the Mandalorians will be content to let the Witches, and the Geh 'Dia, be.The System Lords are declared enemies of the Witches, though fro reasons known only unto the witches- And the Geh 'Dia Order and UGC. The reason; Several hundered Tok'Ra arrived on Doothier a full thousand years before their existance was known to the Rakatan Galaxy. They were the survivors of a Goa'uld attack that slaughter millions of Tok'Ra and Tau'ri civilians, then of a strange worm hole that pentrated not only planets but galaxies (the Rakatan and Goa'uld Galaxies are 5 Supra-Clusters apart, nevermind seprerated merely Super Clusters or Clusters), but also in time- To the Tok'Ra and Tau'ri survivors, the worm hole took them backwards 200,000 years, to the earliest of the Goa'uld Empire.Just about very form of life fears and hates the Wraith, but the Witches make it a special point to hunt them down whenever they appear in the Rakatan Galaxy. Like the Nightsisters, it becomes genocide; The mathematic is simple. Either all the Wraith die, and/or all the Sisters sent to massacre them die. |
Geh 'Dia Order. | Code Of The Geh 'Dia Defenders (commonly called "the Geh 'Dia Code"). | Geh 'Dia Order. |
---|
The Code Of The Geh 'Dia Defenders is a code of conduct intended to help establish, regulate and maintain the general behavior of all Geh 'Dia. Despite undergoing, at some point during Geh 'Dia history, a subtle but substantial alteration of at least its written tenets, the code's fundamental context and meaning, invoking as it did self-discipline, tolerance, compassion, harmony and peaceful exploration, remained unchanged.MantraOne of the key portions of the Code was a five-line mantra. Several versions of the mantra exist, though the original version was:Emotion, yet peace.Ignorance, yet knowledge.Passion, yet serenity.Chaos, yet harmony.Death, yet the Force. The refined version established by Odan-Urr and transcribed by Homonix Rectonia during the Early Manderon Period was perhaps the best known:There is no emotion, there is peace. There is no ignorance, there is knowledge. There is no passion, there is serenity.(There is no chaos, there is harmony.)*There is no death, there is the Force.- The Geh 'Dia Code (based on the meditations of Odan-Urr)*The fourth line "There is no chaos, there is harmony," is removed in some Geh 'Dia texts.Another version of the code during 32 BBY read as follows:Geh 'Dia are the guardians of peace in the galaxy. Geh 'Dia use their powers to defend and protect, never to attack others. Geh 'Dia respect all life, in any form. Geh 'Dia serve others, rather than rule over them, for the good of the galaxy. Geh 'Dia seek to improve themselves through knowledge and training.Grand Master Luke SKYWALKER modified this code slightly upon reestablishing the Geh 'Dia Order in the Galaxy: Geh 'Dia are the guardians of peace in the galaxy. Geh 'Dia use their powers to defend and to protect. Geh 'Dia respect all life, in any form. Geh 'Dia serve others rather than ruling over them, for the good of the galaxy. Geh 'Dia seek to improve themselves through knowledge and training.Miscellaneous tenetsHere can be read a number of miscellaneous tenets which are not mentioned in the Code, but should be known for all Geh 'Dia. |
- The Geh 'Dia are the guardians of civilization, yet do not allow civilization to destroy needlessly.
- A Geh 'Dia uses the Force for knowledge and defense, never for aggression or personal gain.
- A corollary of the Code was "A Geh 'Dia does not act for personal power."
- The Lightsaber is the symbol of the members of the Geh 'Dia Order that is also a deadly weapon.
- If a Geh 'Dia ignites his lightsaber, he must be ready to take a life.
- Geh 'Dia do not marry (with some exceptions), in order to avoid attachment and- According to Vergere- So as not to create dynasties of those strong in the Force. However, in many periods of the Order's history, such as the era prior to Exar KUN and in Luke SKYWALKER'S reformed Geh 'Dia Order, marriage was not forbidden. That being said, celibacy was enforced in many periods of the Order's history.
- Geh 'Dia respect each other, and all other life forms.
- Geh 'Dia must put the needs of the community above the needs of individuals.
- A Geh 'Dia must protect the weak and defenseless from evil.
- Geh 'Dia must always cooperate in battle or crisis.
| - Geh 'Dia must not have wants; Self-reliance must be shown.
- Geh 'Dia are forbidden from ruling others, although by the end of the Republic there was some debate over whether or not this was part of the actual Code.
- A Geh 'Dia Master may not have more than one Padawan. This particular rule developed after the Old Sith Wars, as most ancient Masters did not have to abide by it. Exceptions have and will continue to be made, but one apprentice per master is the standard.
- While the Code did not mention a maximum age for taking Padawans, Geh 'Dia Master Simikarty wrote influential interpretations of the Code that inserted such limits; over time, his interpretations of the Code became conflated with the Code itself. In Revan's era, apprentices were taken from early childhood. After the end of the New Sith Wars, it became policy to take apprentices from infancy, which proved controversial with those outside the Order. Conversely, Nomi SUNRIDER started her training as an adult, as did the apprentices of the Geh 'Dia Exile and many of the New Geh 'Dia Order.
- A Geh 'Dia shall not kill an unarmed opponent.
- A Geh 'Dia shall not take revenge.
- A Geh 'Dia does not cling to the past.
- The Geh 'Dia do not believe in killing their prisoners.
|
Following The Code"The Geh 'Dia shackle themselves in chains of obedience: obedience to the Geh 'Dia Council; obedience to their Masters; obedience to the Republic. Those who follow the light side even believe they must submit themselves to the Force. They are merely instruments of its will, slaves to a greater good."-Darth Bane, comparing the Geh 'Dia Code to the Sith Code | In follow the code, the Geh 'Dia is taught three disciplines; Self-Discipline, Responsibility, and Public Service.Self-DisciplineSelf-discipline was one of the key concepts of Geh 'Dia behavior, and Geh 'Dia Padawans were taught this from a very early age. The lessons started off similar to what might be taught to an ordinary student; however, as the student progressed, so did the complexity of the lessons. |
Conquer Arrogance | Conquer Overconfidence | Conquer Defeatism | Conquer Stubbornness |
---|
"The acceptance of others is not a guarantee. Like everyone else, a Geh 'Dia is accepted or not based on his behavior. The Geh 'Dia who believes that he is more important than others only demonstrates that his opinion is to be ignored."~ Dooku | "Overconfident thinking is flawed because the Geh 'Dia does not take all possibilities into account. He may understand the task at hand, the support of his fellows, and the ramifications of his success, and he may have even planned for unanticipated factors- But he has failed to understand his own capabilities. He has planned only for success, because he has concluded that there can be no failure. Every Geh 'Dia, in every task, should prepare for the possibility of failure." ~ Vodo-Siosk Baas | "Try not! Do, or do not. There is no try."~ Yoda | "Do not see a lightsaber duel as a choice between winning and losing. Every duel can have many, many outcomes. When you concentrate solely on winning- In lightsaber duels as in everything else- You sully your victory. Winning becomes worse than losing. It is better to lose than to win sorely. And it is always better to end a duel peacefully than to win or lose."~ Rekpa DE |
Geh 'Dia were required to learn that, although they were able to use the Force, they were no better than those who could not. Geh 'Dia were taught that they were only Geh 'Dia because some had taken the trouble to teach them, not because they were superior to others, and that a Geh 'Dia Master was only a Geh 'Dia Master because he had disregarded his own sense of self-importance and embraced the will of the Force. | Many young Geh 'Dia students, while learning the ways of the Force, began to believe that they could accomplish anything. Many young Geh 'Dia died taking on tasks that were far too difficult for them, not realizing that the Force was only truly limitless to those who had limitless understanding. | Young Geh 'Dia also learned that defeatism was just as dangerous as overconfidence. Although it might have seemed contradictory to the goals of conquering overconfidence, a Geh 'Dia would first plan for success, then for failure. Geh 'Dia who always plan for failure expected to lose, and usually only used minimal effort; Enough to say that they had tried. | Geh 'Dia would always have been ready to accept defeat if the cost of winning was greater than the cost of losing. Geh 'Dia were taught that it was always best to end things peacefully than to win or lose. |
Conquer Recklessness | Conquer Curiosity | Conquer Aggression | Conquer External Loyalties |
---|
"Learn to recognize when speed is not important. Race when being first is important; move at your own pace at all other times. It is not necessary to always strike the first blow, to provide the first solution, or to reach a goal before anyone else does. In fact, it is sometimes vital to strike the last blow, to give the final answer, or to arrive after everyone else." ~ Wiwa | "Use the Force to satisfy the will of the Force- Not to satisfy your own curiosity."~ Odan-Urr | "A Geh 'Dia uses the Force for knowledge and defense, never for attack." ~ Yoda | "A Geh 'Dia is a Geh 'Dia, first and foremost, and only. For a Geh 'Dia to divide his attention between the will of the Force and the will of others is to invite disaster." ~ Hoche Trit |
Many young Geh 'Dia lacking in self-restraint were always ready to ignite their lightsabers and plunge straight into battle. They perceived a goal and rushed towards it, without any consideration for unseen dangers or other options. And so Geh 'Dia were taught that speed did not necessarily lead to success. | Many inexperienced Force-sensitives used the Force to satisfy their curiosity, probing into the business of others. Intruding gave the clear message that the Geh 'Dia felt they were above others' privacy. Geh 'Dia were taught that although using the Force to discreetly uncover the secrets of others may have been occasionally necessary, it should never become a matter of course, as it would cause great distrust of the Geh 'Dia in general. | A sizable number of Geh 'Dia, in training, confused the meanings of attack, defense and aggression. Thus Younglings were taught that it was possible for a Geh 'Dia to strike without aggression, so long as they acted without recklessness, hatred or anger. A Geh 'Dia was permitted to kill in self-defense- only if there was no other option. However, Geh 'Dia instructors taught their students that killing, no matter what the circumstances, was not to become commonplace. To conquer aggression, even in combat, a Geh 'Dia must have explored every other option, including surrender, before resorting to using lethal force. Geh 'Dia who depended on murder were close to the Dark side of the Force. | Each Geh 'Dia was expected to remove as many external distractions from his or her life as possible. For that reason, the Order only accepted potential Padawans while they were still young children; They were too young to have already formed strong relationships and forbidden them forming attached relationships later in life. Geh 'Dia were not allowed to marry without special dispensation, such as the case of Cerean Geh 'Dia Ki-Adi-Mundi, who was allowed to marry several Cerean women because of his people's low birth rate.Geh 'Dia were forbidden from taking a political appointment or to accept gifts. They were taught that their loyalty was to be to the Geh 'Dia Order, and to nothing else. |
Conquer Materialism | |
---|
"I wear my robe so that I am warm; I carry my lightsaber so that I am safe; And I keep enough credits for my next meal, so that I am not hungry. If the Force wants me to have more, it finds a way of letting me know."~ Kagoro |
Geh 'Dia were forbidden from keeping more than a few essential belongings. There were two reasons for this; First because they distracted a Geh 'Dia from the Force, and second because, as they emerged through the ranks, Geh 'Dia were required to leave for missions with extremely short notice, and so having many objects was a burden. It was rare for a Geh 'Dia to possess more than they could carry on their person at one time. |
ResponsibilityOnce a Geh 'Dia had mastered self-discipline, they could begin to accept responsibility for their actions. Geh 'Dia who shunned responsibility were never trained, and Geh 'Dia who embraced it were never denied training. |
Practice Honesty | Honor Your Promises | Honor Your Padawan | Honor Your Master |
---|
"Let there be truth between your heart and the Force. All else is transitory."~ Surenit Kli'qiy | "Deliver more than you promise. The best way to be always certain of this is to deliver much, even when you promise nothing."~ Tho-Mes Drei | "Good call, my young Padawan."~ Obi-Wan Kenobi to his Padawan, Anakin SKYWALKER. | "I'm sorry for my behavior, Master. It's not my place to disagree with you about the boy. And I am grateful you think I'm ready to take the trials."~ Obi-Wan Kenobi to Qui-Gon Jinn. |
Honesty was the first responsibility that aspiring Geh 'Dia were taught. Geh 'Dia were permitted to stretch the truth if the situation required it of them, however this was to be done as sparingly as possible. An honest Geh 'Dia was always truthful with himself, his Master, and the Council. | Geh 'Dia were taught that if they made a promise, they should have always been prepared to keep it, or else to have made amends. Thus, a Geh 'Dia should never have make a promise he or she was not certain they could keep. Geh 'Dia were encouraged to consult their Master before making a promise. However, over time this led to an informal policy on making no promises, and thus a moniker- "The No Promise Team." | A Geh 'Dia Master is required to know that he must treat his Padawan with respect. He should never reprimand his Padawan in public, nor punish his Padawan for disagreeing with him. On the other hand, a Master should praise his Padawan, especially in the presence of others. This built the Padawan's confidence, and strengthened the bond between Master and apprentice. | By the same token, Padawans were expected to show great respect to their Masters, especially in front of others. Padawans were taught never to disagree with their Masters to the point of argument, and that when they were in discussion with others, Padawans should only address their Masters when they had been addressed themselves. This spared the Master having to apologize for his Padawan's behavior. |
Honor The Geh 'Dia Council | Honor The Geh 'Dia Order | Honor The Law | Honor Life |
---|
"Now must I keep the word I made when only a Geh 'Dia Knight I was- a promotion this is not."~ Master Yoda after being invited to join the Geh 'Dia High Council. | "When a Geh 'Dia behaves badly in public, an observer might think, 'If this Geh 'Dia is a representative of the whole Order, then plainly no Geh 'Dia is worth respect.' On meeting a second Geh 'Dia, who behaves better than the first, that same person might think, 'Does this say that half the Geh 'Dia are good, and half bad?' On meeting a third Geh 'Dia, who behaves as well as the second, the person thinks, 'Was the first Geh 'Dia an exception, then?' In this way, only by the good behavior of several Geh 'Dia can the public be certain that the poor behavior of one Geh 'Dia was unusual. Thus, it takes many Geh 'Dia to undo the mistakes of one."~ Odan-Urr | No particular quote. | "Listen to the Force, Cade. A Geh 'Dia's first concern is to preserve life."~ Kol Skywalker |
Although the Geh 'Dia High Council was the ultimate authority of the Geh 'Dia Order, it was not possible for the High Councilors to be everywhere at once. Therefore, when the Council sent a Geh 'Dia on a mission, the Geh 'Dia spoke for and was a representative of the Geh 'Dia Council. The Council was forced to answer for the Geh 'Dia's words and answers, and so the Geh 'Dia would have been careful not to put the Council in a difficult position, as to do so would be to show terrible disrespect for the Council. | Every action a Geh 'Dia made reflected on the Order. Good deeds boosted the Order's reputation, but poor behavior sometimes caused incurable damage. Geh 'Dia were taught to remember that each person they met might not have set eyes upon a Geh 'Dia before, and that the acts of the particular Geh 'Dia that person would influence their perception of the Geh 'Dia Order as a whole. | One of the most important roles of the Geh 'Dia was to protect the peace and justice of the Republic, and so no Geh 'Dia was above the law. Geh 'Dia were expected to follow the law the same as they expected others to. Geh 'Dia were permitted to break laws, but only when it was required, and only if they were willing to suffer the consequences... | Geh 'Dia were expected never to commit murder, for any reason. However, if confronted with a life-or-death struggle, a Geh 'Dia was permitted to kill to complete their mission. This act was not encouraged, as ending life strengthened the dark side; however, if the act was justified- if it saved others' lives, or if the Geh 'Dia was acting on the will of the Force- then the light side was equally strengthened. Geh 'Dia were also expected to think of those they had killed, and to think of the suffering caused by their deaths. A Geh 'Dia who did not care about his victims was on the path to the dark side. |
Public ServiceAlthough the Geh 'Dia existed to serve the Force, they were funded by the senate because they served the public interest. If Geh 'Dia were unable to use the Force, they would continue to serve, because that was their duty. The fact that the Force was real, and that the Geh 'Dia were its most prolific and devoted practitioners, only strengthened their resolve to use it for good. |
Duty To The Republic | Render Aid | Defend The Weak | Provide Support |
---|
Although the Geh 'Dia and the Republic were dissimilar, and the Geh 'Dia Order had no authority over the Republic, the Geh 'Dia served the Republic, and were expected to uphold its laws and ideals, and to protect its citizens. However, members of the Order held no rank in Republic hierarchy, and only served when asked; At all other times they stepped aside. This strange agreement between the two parties had stood for so long that no one knew how or why it had come about. | Geh 'Dia were obliged to help those in need of aid whenever possible, and were expected to be able to prioritize quickly. Geh 'Dia were taught that while saving one life was important, saving many lives was even more so. This principle did not mean a Geh 'Dia had to abandon other goals in every circumstance, but merely that a Geh 'Dia must do his or her best to make sure that they aided those who were most in need of assistance. | Similarly, a Geh 'Dia was expected to defend the weak from those who oppressed them, ranging from small-scale suffering at the hands of an individual to large-scale enslavement of entire species. However, Geh 'Dia were taught to remember that all may not have been as it seemed, and that they should respect other cultures, even if they clashed with a Geh 'Dia's moral or ethical code. Geh 'Dia were also warned not to act in areas out of their jurisdiction, and to always consider the consequences of their actions. | At times, it was necessary for a Geh 'Dia to stand aside and let other people defend the weak, even if the Geh 'Dia felt that they could do a superior job. Geh 'Dia were taught that they should assist by word or action as required by the situation, offering advice when requested to, warning when necessary, and arguing only when reason failed. Geh 'Dia should remember that they wielded the marvelous tool of the Force, and that they should be prepared to use it only for good. |
Miscellaneous CodesThe Geh 'Dia also abided by other codes that were not part of the original Geh 'Dia Code:Crystal CodeThe crystal code was a mantra traditionally recited by a Geh 'Dia while witnessing his/her student assembling his/her lightsaber. However, this was not a constant, as a separate tradition held that Geh 'Dia students should fabricate and assemble their lightsabers in private, without their master's guidance or intervention. The crystal is the heart of the blade. The heart is the crystal of the Geh 'Dia. The Geh 'Dia is the crystal of the Force. The Force is the blade of the heart. All are intertwined. The crystal, the blade, the Geh 'Dia. We are one. |

Originally, The Book of Law was meant to be a moral guide to teach Allya's female descendants in safe and sane uses of their magic. Since Allya was once a Geh 'Dia Knight, she based some of the text on the Geh 'Dia Code. After generations, Allya's children dispersed themselves across Dathomir, creating new clans of Dathomiri Witches, each of which had their own copy of the book. Although the message in each book was based on Allya's original message, each clan added its own discoveries and spells to their copy. Some clans even took Allya's original message and replaced it with various interpretations. One such example of this would be the Nightsisters' Book of Shadows. The LawsDaughters of Allya.Learn these words and learn them well, for they are the foundations that will increase your strength and keep you safe from harm. Those who suffer emotion will never enjoy peace. Those who choose ignorance will never know their own greatness. Those who yield to passion will fail to dominate. Those who fear death will never achieve pure power.Never forget that your magic must always be used wisely.Never concede to evil, lest you be consumed by it. |

"The Holocron is overflowing with advice! Listen and look..."-Bodo Baas | A Holocron was a crystal lattice (often cubical and sized to be held in one hand) in which the Geh 'Dia, as well as the Syhith, of old stored phenomenal quantities of data, as well as the Holocron's Gatekeeper. The Syhith also had their own form of Holocron technology, and they seem to predate the Geh 'Dia in using the technology by three thousand years.Every Geh 'Dia is expected, but not required, to make a Holocron (unlike a Lightsaber, which is required) to record their memories for future research. Over time, they can update the Holocron. Every Geh 'Dia Holocron can access each other Geh 'Dia Holocron still in existence (ie, hasn't be destroyed) to a limited degree; They may not be able to call upon the thoughts of the Geh 'Dia who made that Holocron, but the maker of the Holocron the researcher has can speak for the other, like one Geh 'Dia speaking on behalf of another. All Geh 'Dia Holocrons can be accessed, to a limited degree, by 'normals' to seek advice and council; However, the Holocron can only emulate their maker, and therefore one is well-cautioned to heed the council with a grain of salt. Each Holocron, when accessed in this fashion, forewarns the user to do so. Only the slightly vain Grand Master SKYWALKER'S Holocron doesn't; But then, he didn't fully understand the technology, and therefore had an excuse.DescriptionSyhith Holocrons usually took the form of a pyramid, and the existence of the first Syhith Holocron predates that of a Geh 'Dia Holocron by at least three thousand years. The technology to create the pyramidal Holocrons common to the Syhith was something | A collection of Geh 'Dia Holocrons. |

gifted to the ancient Syhith king Adas by Rakata warriors trying to gain his trust. He accepted their technology and made a Holocron, but he saw through their ploy and rebelled against them. It can only be assumed that the Geh 'Dia also learned the secrets of the Holocron by Rakatan example, possibly by studying mysterious artifacts left behind by the Infinite Empire. The Holocron was able to capture the appearance and cognitive networks of the Holocron's owner, and transform this into a three-dimensional hologram. This gatekeeper acted as a guide through the Holocron's store of information, as a search and recovery engine with a more personal touch. These gatekeepers could relate stories from the Holocron's archives to events in the life of the one who activated the Holocron. Geh 'Dia gatekeepers could sense the ability and level of a Geh 'Dia, and offer or restrict information accordingly- So that Padawans were not shown information too advanced and dangerous for their basic stage. However, Syhith Holocrons usually allowed the activator unlimited access to its entire dark side repository. The technology to make them was nearly lost after the Great Geh 'Dia Purge. Surviving Holocrons contained information including Geh 'Dia techniques, blueprints of ancient starships, and historical information about the universe; as a result, they were quite valuable. Usually, only Force-sensitive users could access a Holocron, though it is known that Bastila Shan's father also made one, which he used as a journal. Additionally, Data Holocrons were a type of Holocron that did not require Force sensitivity to access.Known HolocronsGeh 'Dia Holocrons |
Geh 'Dia Order. | Geh 'Dai Factions. | Geh 'Dia Order. |
---|
Like the Syhtih and other larger factions, the Geh 'Dia have their sub factions, called Orders; Each is named for its founder with a few exceptions:The Grand Council:A council made of the Masters of the lesser councils of the Order. The Councils:A collective body of usually 4 to 12 (never less, rarely more) Geh 'Dia of at least Master rank, who hold the power to direct and control (and punish) Geh 'Dia of their influence, and to address misconduct outside their Council. A council can be formed by any Order, though only one Council per order, or can be formed either ad hoc to address a specific issue or crisis. Some Orders consist only of the entire Order, such as the Nivite Council, made up of the 5 Geh 'Dia who went into exile on Nivite after their fall.Skywalkers:If there could be said to be an "elite" within the Geh 'Dai, it is the Skwalkers. Thier founder was the Order itself's founder, Luke SKYWALKER, and to join the Skywlakers one must first achieve the rank of Knight and hold it for years, as well as have served in combat for the Order and/or the Rakatan Senate. They focus on developing the whole of the Order by developing the whole of the individual, as their founder himself did, first as a farmer, then as a warrior, then as a teacher, then as a hermit hiding from the universe at large as he meditated on his own mistakes.Though it is not written, and exceptions have been made, Geh 'Dia are not normally invited to the Skywalkers unless they have been in at least 3 of the other Orders and achieved the rank of Master; Indeed, and the Skywalkers do not hesitate to admit this, but if they collectively can not feel you in the Force from across the galaxy, you likely won't be invited. If you are, you're shipped off to Skywalker to spend a year living in abject poverty in the life of practical slavery to determine if you're emotionally and psychologically fit to be leader of the Order; If so, you're vested with extraordinary powers, ones even the Councils do not have. You can even refuse the Grand Councils orders (though you will face them, in person, if you do so, and you might well find yourself in very deep trouble). Not all Skywalkers are "good guys." Some are redeemed Syhith (one such was Mara JADE); Others are bloodthirst warlords (many would argue Luke SKYWALKER himself was one such, and he never contradicted it); Some are even wanted, and with good cause, for their crimes- One was a former pirate. Nevertheless, the Skywalkers make up the most powerful of Geh' Dia, with the humility needed to wield such power.Organas:The diplomats of the Order, it is "usually" the Organas that reach out to other organizations to speak on behalf of the Order; If not, an Organa is right there to aid the diplomat in their duties (in other words, the Organa is the diplomat, the other is a puppet).Solos:The purist pragmatists; The Solos see a problem only as it is, and address it. They are more likely to shoot first in order to be the only one to shoot, but never without reason. If the records are correct, the Organs and Solos were once one faction, the Organa/Solos, for their founder Leia ORGANA-SOLO. The exact split of the faction is unclear, but it appears to have been ordered by the Grand Council of the order.Jades:Fallen Geh 'Dai who are seeking redemption, or are aiding others in their search. All Jades wear a dark brown cloak and carry a purple Lightsaber, or none at all. Most spend a great deal of their first few years on Skywalker, where they contemplate their fall and work to redemption; Some never leave the place, with a special graveyard having been set up for those who either can not accept their mistakes or, more often can not forgive themselves.Mara JADE, the founder of the Jades, was definitely "Mara JADE-SKYWALKER," wife of Luke SKYWLKER, founder of the larger order. The "Jade/Skywalker" order never formed, however, instead bifurcating into two separate factions at the outset; It appears the two founders themselves split it, with each taking over their relative faction. JADE herself was a Syhith warrior, one of the Palpatinians "Hands," and JADE personally took interest to those like herself who "needed a hand up"- Such as her own husband at one point.Katryns:Warriors to the bone, the Katyrns trace their Order back to Kyle KATYRN, a latter-day student of SKYWALKER himself. The Order was rocked by the discovery that their founder had been cloned by the Palaptinian Order, their subterfuge to hurt the order notwithstanding, though the surrender of the surviving KATRYNS (and the THRAWN defectors) to the Katyrn Order did much to relieve the stress of the members of the Order (since they were able to directly interview the clones and determine if there was in fact any reason to fear corruption of the Order).Reys:Founded by the Geh 'Dai Soldier and former slave Rey, the Reys tend to attact those who are "hurt" by matters to which they have either no control, and have had difficulty with. The Reys can be elective, but most are sent to the Order by their Masters or Council as those around them see they are "having difficulties." It is not considered dishonorable to enter the Reys, especially on one's own; To underscore the point, the Grand Council watched for decades for a Reyist who could serve the role of Grand Master, and found one eventually, a Reyis name Teaton VNET, even while she was still an active member of the Order. For reasons that are not entirely clear, the Reys set up their headquarters at a decrepit moisture farm on a desert world on the outer reaches of the outer rim; The founder it was said rebuilt the farm with the intention of retiring entirely, but was drawn back to service. She left the farm to others to maintain as a place of recovery for those who, like her, had been phyisically and mentally scared by the life all Geh 'Dia live.Teaton VNET:Katryrnist Teaton VNET was sent with her Mistress to aid Vinian settlers dealing with a particularly vicious raider group; The raiders turned out to be Syhith warriors belonging to the independent Syhith Lady Vahd and her apprentice/lover Darth J'hang. VNET was taken captive and raped by Vhad and J'hang alike for nearly a decade, and the larger Geh 'Dai order didn't do much to help her; for reasons complete unrelated to her, they saturation bombed the planet in an attempt to destroy Vhad and J'hang.Though the order didn't realize it at the time, VNET'S suffering would pay a return far in excess of the price; VNET entered the Rey Order after her ordeal, usually helping Jadists in their recovery. After 5 years, VNET became the Master of the Reyist Order (not that it was all that hard, since nobody else wanted the job), and 25 years after that was invited to the Skywalker Order- The first Reyist to receive that offer, and once of very few to do so without the year of service (having, as the then Master of the Skywalker Order put it, "passed that test decades ago, and still taking it anyways").The Skywalkers and Grand Council watched her very carefully for the next couple of years, but most already had a strong opinion; Her invitation to the Skywalkers wasn't for her service, but to test her potential as the Gran Master of the Order. She passed. In a surprising move to her at a Grand Council meeting, the then reigning Grand Master walked in, and it is reported he said, "Mistress VNET, I do believer there is a mistake her. You are in my seat," implying that she was should be in his. When she began to claim otherwise (in bewilderment), the other Master stood and raised their Lightsabers (or related) to her, in the traditional closing of a Grand Master ceremony. |
- Allynic E'Kles's Holocron was a Holocron made by Allynic E'Kles, a Caamasi Geh 'Dia Master. He stored his investigative knowledge and many memnii within the Holocron, the latter of which could be accessed by telepathic Geh 'Dia.
- Arca JETH'S Holocron was a Holocron created by the venerable Geh 'Dia Master, Arca JETH. It was lost on Arkania, Master Arca's homeworld, and was not recovered until well into the New Republic era, when it was discovered on an archeological dig.
The Holocron was given to Geh 'Dia historian Tionne Solusar on behalf of the New Geh 'Dia Order. - Asli Krimsan's Holocron was a Holocron made by Geh 'Dia Master Asli Krimsan. It was somehow acquired by Darth Vader who kept it at Bast Castle on Vjun.
The Holocron remained there after his death until it was discovered by Geh 'Dia Knight Tionne Solusar on one of her many research missions in 22 years ago. On this particular mission she was accompanied by Geh 'Dia Master Ikrit and Geh 'Dia trainees Anakin Solo, Tahiri Veila and Uldir Lochett. At the castle they were confronted by the mage Orloc but they defeated him and returned the Holocron to the Geh 'Dia Praxeum. Lochett later stole the Holocron when he fled the academy to seek tuition under Orloc. The Holocron was recovered when Orloc was revealed as a fake onboard Exis Station. - Bodo Baas's Holocron was a Holocron made by Geh 'Dia Master Bodo Baas around 600 BBY. Baas was descended from Vodo-Siosk Baas, who made a Holocron of his own. Made from gems, covered in faint writing, warm to the touch and glowing with a faint blue light, Bodo had inherited it from others, but filled it with his own stories and knowledge and established himself as its Gatekeeper; however, once a user had gained enough experience, he or she could access the recordings of other Masters. Around 300 BBY, it was believed to have gone missing.
During the Great Geh 'Dia Purge, Emperor Palpatine executed Geh 'Dia Master Ashka Boda and captured the Holocron of Bodo Baas. Palpatine possibly used the secret in the Holocron to cheat death with the dark side and cloning technology, and he recorded some of the Holocron's secrets in his Book of Anger. In 10 years ago, Leia Organa Solo found the Holocron when she confronted the reborn Emperor on Byss. When Leia escaped, leaving Luke Skywalker to finish off the clone, she activated the Holocron on board the Millennium Falcon and listened to Bodo's version of the downfall of Ulic Qel-Droma. Later she used the Holocron again to ask about Luke's future, but Bodo revealed that it was too cloaked in mists and shadows to tell. Later, Luke learned from the Holocron that ancient Geh 'Dia artifacts were possibly located on Ossus. Before heading out with Kam Solusar to investigate, Kam also encountered the Holocron. Rather unimpressed with the small cube he was taken aback when it sensed him and activated. The image of Baas gave some cryptic wisdom, and instructed Kam and his fellow Geh 'Dia to have patience. It became known as one of the greatest Geh 'Dia Artifacts of the Modern Era. Unfortunately, the Holocron was destroyed by Exar Kun on Yavin 4 when Luke Skywalker was trying to solve the mysterious identity of the Syhith Lord. | The Great Holocron; This Holocrons could instantly and fully access every Geh 'Dia Holocron everywhere. |

- The Great Holocron is an ancient, dodecahedron Holocron.
Housed in the Geh 'Dia Archives on Coruscant, the Great Holocron was the centerpiece of the Geh 'Dia Temple's library holdings. It contained vast amounts of information that was accessible to any Force-sensitive being willing to open itself to the Holocron, and Geh 'Dia trainees were encouraged to explore its contents. Despite its ease of access, consumption of its manifold mysteries was thought to be impossible- even Master Yoda was thought, by Archives Director Jocasta Nu, to still struggle with its depth. The Great Holocron could also be accessed by non-Force sensitives, but not quite as fully. While the Great Holocron was designed to only reveal information that its user was prepared to encounter, inexperienced Padawans accessed the Great Holocron under the watchful eye of the Archives Director who stood ready to step in if the young Geh 'Dia was drawn in too far. Topics included basic and advanced lightsaber construction methods, Galactic Republic history, philosophy, Syhith history, lightsaber combat and Geh 'Dia techniques. The Great Holocron also included discussions on the dark side of the Force and methods to resist its call. Following the rise of the Galactic Empire, the Great Holocron was lost, captured by 501ᵟᵀ Legion during the last Great Geh 'Dia Purge during the assault on the Geh 'Dia Temple. Its whereabouts afterward were unknown for almost 500 years, before it was stolen from the Syhith Order; Then it was passed from Geh 'Dia parent to Geh 'Dia child until SKYWALKER murdered the Syhith Lords and re-established the Geh 'Dia Order. - Kaerobani's Holocron was the Geh 'Dia Holocron stolen by the pirate Kaerobani. He stole it from a New Republic Corvette using a captured Immobilizer 418 cruiser. He then took it to his base on Rathalay to add it to his collection of rare artifacts.
The Holocron was recovered by Mara Jade who infiltrated his base. It is unknown what then became of it. - Qalsneek's Holocron was a sea-crystal Holocron created by Geh 'Dia Master Qalsneek the Bull.
It was discovered during exploration of the Derem City ruins on Kamino, where a vast library, that appeared to have been maintained by a group of Geh 'Dia Knights, was uncovered. This Holocron, along with many other aquatic artifacts, were relocated by Qalsneek from Ossus to Kamino following the destruction of the Cron Cluster. - Quinlan Vos's Holocron was a Holocron made by Quinlan Vos. Prior to the Siege of Saleucami, it was given to him by Oppo Rancisis, who believed that Vos would benefit from recording his thoughts and feelings. Strangely, it was not shaped like a traditional cubic Geh 'Dia Holocron, but rather like a pyramidal Syhith Holocron.
Vos kept it with him throughout the campaign on Saleucami and in the Battle of Kashyyyk, where, after Order 66, he used it to record his love for Khaleen Hentz. It made its way to her eight months later on Nar Shaddaa. She was reading it on Kashyyyk when Vos himself returned to her. - Ood Bnar's Holocron was one of the many Geh 'Dia Holocrons created by Neti Geh 'Dia Master Ood Bnar. Bnar also served as this Holocron's gatekeeper.
Bnar was only a thousand years old- Young by Neti standards- When he recorded his prophecies in the Holocron. This Holocron was passed among Geh 'Dia Masters for thousands of years at one point belonging to Master Arca Jeth, and was also used by Nomi Sunrider in 4,000 BBY. Bnar was also known to have created a number of Holocrons that were used by other Geh 'Dia Masters, including Vodo-Siosk Baas. - Sar Agorn's Holocron was a Holocron programmed with the personality of Geh 'Dia Master Sar Agorn, which served as the Holocron's Gatekeeper.
As the Gatekeeper decides who has access to what knowledge within a Holocron, Agorn was extremely cautious, only allowing a student to access new techniques if he felt they possessed the proper responsibility to support the new knowledge. Lacking technical know how, such as on the construction of a lightsaber, his vast knowledge of Geh 'Dia philosophy and tradition was stored on the Holocron, allowing a student to learn new Force techniques or discover the intricacies of the Force as a whole. - Tedryn Holocron: The Tedryn Holocron is a Geh 'Dia Holocron recorded by Tedryn and kept by Vodo-Siosk Baas.
- Vodo-Siosk Baas's Holocron was a Holocron recorded by Geh 'Dia Master Vodo-Siosk Baas sometime prior to the Great Syhith War. Made for him by Master Ood Bnar, Vodo served as its Gatekeeper, and it was filled with the history of the Geh 'Dia and Syhith.
Before falling to the dark side, Exar Kun accessed the Holocron, without his master's permission, to learn about the Syhith. Vodo-Siosk's descendant, Bodo Baas, would have a Holocron of his own. HistoryEarly historyThe Holocron was created sometimes before the Great Sith War, possibly by Geh 'Dia Master Tedryn, whom the artifact was named for. Tedryn was probably the first gatekeeper of the holocron and was followed by a long line of Geh 'Dia who contributed to the Holocron. One of the early gatekeepers was Master Odan-Urr, who added a record to the holocron about the Great Hyperspace War. One other gatekeeper was the then thousand years old Ood Bnar, who recorded his prophecies in the Holocron.By 3997 BBY Vodo-Siosk Baas held the Holocron and became a gatekeeper by imparting it with his knowledge and memory. One day, he found his Apprentice, Exar Kun questioning the holocron about dark Geh 'Dia Freedon Nadd and the Sith, a dark side cult. Baas turned off the device, because the hidden knowledge of the dark side was meant only for Geh 'Dia Masters.Around 600 BBY, Bodo Baas inherited the Holocron and reorganized every single recording. By 590 BBY, using primitive hologram technology, he added the records of teachings and history of the Geh 'Dia, which was collected by a group of Geh 'Dia in the Adega system. The Holocron was believed to have gone missing sometimes before 290 BBY, but it was in the possession of Ashka Boda.Imperial PeriodIn 19 BBY, at the beginning of the Great Geh 'Dia Purge, Emperor Palpatine's agents brought Geh 'Dia Masters before him to be questioned and tortured for forgotten secrets and cures, that could help him in his quest for immortality. The Tedryn Holocron was among the belongings of Bodo Baas, who was executed by the Emperor. Shortly thereafter the device came in the possession of Master Ashka Boda. The Dark Lord executed Boda as well, and took possession of the Tedryn Holocron. Palpatine used the secrets in the holocron to cheat death with the dark side and cloning technology, and he recorded some of the holocron's secrets in his Book of Anger. However, the greater portion of the ancient knowledge remained hidden from the Dark Lord, because it was accessible only by Geh 'Dia Knights. He considered the Holocron to be only a collection of ancient record. The reborn Emperor held the artifact in his study in the Imperial Citadel on Byss.At some later time, Obi-Wan Kenobi described the Holocron to his apprentice, Luke Skywalker. Kenobi thought the holocron could help reestablish the Geh 'Dia Order.Rediscovery for the New Geh 'Dia OrderIn 10 ABY, Leia Organa Solo was captured by the reborn Emperor on his throneworld, Byss. The Sith Lord showed his holocron to the Geh 'Dia, trying unsuccessfully to turn her to the dark side. Leia managed to flee with the holocron. Onboard the Millennium Falcon she listened to Bodo Baas's version of the downfall of Ulic Qel-Droma, and wondered whether there was hope for Luke, or he had gone too far in the dark side in his effort to conquer it from within. After the battle of Mon Calamari, Leia returned to Pinnacle Base, where she again accessed the holocron. She asked Master Baas about her brother's future, but the gatekeeper answered that he could not tell because Skywalker's future was obscured. He then recounted a prophecy written by his own Master. Moments later, a fleet of Star Destroyers led by the Eclipse dropped out of hyperspace above the Pinnacle Moon. The reborn Emperor demanded that Leia and the Tedryn Holocron be delivered to him; he would discuss a truce if the Rebels complied. Leia accepted his terms, but left the holocron in her chambers. Aboard the Eclipse, she realized that Palpatine's hold over Luke had become too strong, and that the dark side was consuming him. The siblings dueled until Leia managed to break Palpatine's spell over Luke, and they confronted the Dark Lord together, fulfilling Bodo Baas's ancient prophecy.Later, Luke found clues in the Tedryn Holocron indicating possible survivors of the Geh 'Dia Purge. He spent many standard weeks searching for Geh 'Dia, until eventually, he found Dark Geh 'Dia Kam Solusar on the Space City of Nespis VIII. Meanwhile, Leia spent long hours with the Tedryn Holocron while Luke was away. During one such session, Baas told her that Vima-Da-Boda could help them.Luke learned from the Holocron that ancient Geh 'Dia artifacts were possibly located on Ossus. His new ally Kam Solusar was rather unimpressed with the small cube, but he was taken aback when it sensed him and activated. The image of Baas gave some cryptic wisdom, and instructed Kam and his fellow Geh 'Dia to have patience. Skywalker and Solusar traveled to Ossus, where they med Ood Bnar, an hibernating Geh 'Dia Master from Exar Kun's time, whose prophecies are stored in the Holocron. With the help of the native Ysanna, the Geh 'Dia found a Geh 'Dia library that had remained undisturbed for four thousand years.By 11 ABY, the Tedryn Holocron was kept in a small library, where Luke Skywalker's apprentices could study it. Skywalker gathered his twelve students in the grand audience chamber of the Massassi temple on Yavin 4 for a formal opening of the Geh 'Dia Praxeum. He invoked gatekeeper Vodo-Siosk Baas to impart a teaching to his apprentices. The ancient Krevaaki Geh 'Dia Master spoke of the Great Sith War, and of Exar Kun and Ulic-Qel Droma, and he warned the students to beware of the temptations of conquest.Tionne Solusar studied Geh 'Dia history from the holocron in the month after arriving to the Praxeum, transcribing its data to tapes and holograms, with a sense of urgency. Her studies allowed her to help the other students with historical examples when the instructions of Master Skywalker were not clear enough. After Gantoris constructed a lightsaber, Corran Horn suspected that he had learned how from the Tedryn Holocron, but Luke explained to him that an inbuilt restriction mechanism prevented the user from accessing knowledge for which he or she is not ready. After the death of Gantoris, Horn advised Master Skywalker on repeating the historical lessons of the Holocron to the students so as to instill a sense of history and purpose to the students, and make them less vulnerable for the corruption of the dark side. Bodo Baas spoke to the Geh 'Dia hopefuls about the heroic adventures of ancient Geh 'Dia Knights and about their battles against the dark side.Corran Horn tried to get some information about the murder of Gantoris, and Baas explained to him that, at the height of the Sith Wars, Yavin 4 had been the seat of Sith Lord Exar Kun. Kun enslaved the Massassi and forced them to build temples in the jungle, as Naga Sadow had done before. Eventually, the Dark Lord was killed in a Geh 'Dia attack. An auxiliary gatekeeper told the students stories of court intrigue in the Old Republic without specifying the subjects of his tales. After Corran Horn and Tionne had accessed all the information concerning Exar Kun, Luke tried to access the deeper levels of the device, but the spirit of the Dark Lord, who had been imprisoned on Yavin 4 since his death four millennia earlier, interrupted Vodo-Siosk Baas by destroying the Holocron.Transcripts and copied data collected by Tionne Solusar and stored in the new Geh 'Dia library on Ossus, kept the teachings of the Tedryn Holocron alive after its destruction."The Tedryn Holocron is the one that Vodo is in possession of; He's one of the gatekeepers of it. One of the gatekeepers of the Geh 'Dia Holocron is Bodo Baas. Ood Bnar is another gatekeeper of that same Geh 'Dia Holocron."~ Bob COOPER, paraphrasing Kevin J. ANDERSON. |

GHI was formed by the UGC in partnership with the Geh 'Dia order to exploit the resources of uninhabitable planets for use of the populace; GHI-owned World-Class Factory Shuttles rip the mineral and other resources out a planet, turning them into raw resources. When the planet's resources are exhausted, the shuttles are surveyed and, if necessary, scrapped (the materials are usually used to build a new shuttle to replace it). This provides the Geh 'Dia much-needed materials for the various hardware they need to assist the UGC in maintaining order in the Rakatan Galaxy, which not coincidentally included ships- Ships that could also be used by shipping industry agents to rebuild the Rakatan space lanes, thus rebuilding the Rakatan economy, which interested both groups enormously.Note: GHI's fleet STRICTLY encompasses these 26 vsls, 750 vehicles, and 5,000 drones. For GHI's fleet to expand would require a vote of the United Galaxies Council (both Departments) and the Geh 'Dia Order (such a vote is inevitable, but not soon). One such vote was already held to authorize more GR-75's and YT-1,300's, and that was a hard fought contest; Expanding the militry and militry use-ready fleet would be much harder. In the event a shuttle is attacked, the drones deploy to protect the shuttle, being sacrificed if necessary, until the shuttle can escape. In the event the command ship is attacked, the drones stall the attack until the shuttles can be recalled or destroyed (they are equipped with self-destruct systems for just this reason). This is to ensure the shuttles can not be captured and re-used as the terror weapons they were originally designed as (the Syhith ECLIPSE-Class Star Destroyers in fact have a WORLD DEVESTATOR-Class Factory Ship factory installed, though this was apparently built from sections of WORLD DEVESTATOR-Class Factory Ships that had been abandoned unfinished on a Syhith-controlled world).GHI also control several dozen various factory satellites, which turn World-Class shuttle inventories into useful products, ranging from food stuffs to heavy artillery to ships. The factory satellites are deliberately kept in a system as far away from the shuttles as possible to prevent attempts at sabotage (using the factories against the shuttles, or worse the shuttles against the manned satellites), but they do posses independent FTL capabilities.Additionally, the Geh 'Dia have an unofficial fleet of 2,000 All Terrain Armored Transports (AT-ATs). These are holdovers from the Forgotten Wars, but remain in service. The Geh 'Dia variant is equipped as a full starships, with factor 8 FTL drives.
