While the PDD-01 Primary Defense Drone serves well in the area of heavy firepower and the LDD-02 Light Defense Drone provides good fire support, both are too

expensive and limited to field on a continuous basis. Neither is particularly flexible in terms of urban combat, in that they can not enter a building without potentially damaging it, and in densely overgrown conditions are hard pressed to find anything without literally stepping on it or crashing into it. Something far more flexible was needed; By sacrificing sheer firepower and armor, the UGC was able to create a drone that can fit into most places a Humanoid can, and with an improved processor was able to allow it the flexibility to control itself almost entirely.
The resultant BTL-41, nicknamed the "Knucklehead" since the First run was kind of clumsy until their processors understood even the most basic functions (like walking), is the result. They are typically tasked in pairs to a PPD-01 as support, much like infantry would support a tank or Destroid, but with far greater autonomy than their larger counterpart- In fact, the heuristic hierarchy is reverse. The BTL-41 is higher in the hierarchy than the PDD-01, and is second only to the biologic counterpart; They 'can' even refuse to obey orders, though only if the biologic counterpart is endangered by their own orders.
This does not mean they will never allow their Master to be endangered; The danger must be imminent, clear, and apparently unknown to them. Even then, the Master can press the order, and it must be obeyed. The architecture used when a discrepancy arises is for the BTL-41, upon receipt of the order, to reply "Command (sir or ma'am, as appropriate)?" The Master unit will then either reply "Execute" meaning "Do it anyways, I know or don't care about the risks" or "Amplify" meaning "Tell me what the problem is."
Knuckleheads are programmed NOT to think of combat as dangerous; They in fact can calculate the risks of combat to the Master and do understand that running away from a fight is more dangerous than staying and fighting. The calculate the imminence of death in terms of "How many times can the Master Unit (the biologic controller I'm assigned to) take this hit?" When it exceeds a certain threshold, they can advance on their own initiate to try to force the enemy away or to another point of attack, in the hopes of giving the Master unit a chance to escape. This, too, can be overridden- If the Master unit has made a decision to stand and fight (possibly to cover another, larger, groups retreat), they can issue the "Hold" command- "Hold your position at all costs, including my life if necessary."
Deployment
Typically deployed tasked in pairs to a PPD-01. May be assigned directly to a power armor.
Redundancies
The standard head has optical, auditory, and olfactory sensors; There are also sensors in the torso, in the front, back, and sides.
Employment
Knuckleheads are usually used in support, much like infantry would support a tank or Destroid.

Weapons Systems:
There are no intrinsically integrated weapons systems on the BTL-41 Knucklehead; However, the GR-103 and GR-97 mini-missile launchers and CADS-1 swords used on the Cyclone can be installed; A light laser head can be installed; And any variety of standard infantry and power armor weapons can be carried. The BTL-41 Knucklehead has power dots and e-cables for this purpose.
1. BTL-41 Knucklehead Light Laser Head: Only applied if heavy combat is expected; Does not effect all other standard functions, since all sensors have redundant sensors in the torso and the processor is located in the torso. 90 degrees arc and 360 degrees traverse.
MD: 1D6 MD.
Range: 200 ft (XXm).
Rate Of Fire: Four times per melee.
Payload: Unlimited.
2. Hand Held Weapons: Any standard type infantry weapon can be carried. The BTL-41 Knucklehead has power dots and e-cables for this purpose.

3. Hand to Hand Combat: Much better than the Heavy Assault Drones.
Kick- 1D6 MD
Leap Kick- 3D6 MD
Body Block/Ram- 2D6 MD (counts as 2 attacks)
Stomp- 1D4 MD; Effective only against objects 1 ft or smaller.
Features:
  • ESM: Radar Detector. Passively detects other radars being operated.
  • Radar: Combat grade radar. Range 100 miles, can track up to 50 individual targets. 95% reliability (24% against unfriendly stealthed vehicles).
  • Blue Force Tracker: Identifies friend from foe. Overlays the information on both the radar and HUD, ensuring that friendly forces are not accidentally targeted.
  • GPS: Standard tracking device. Ties into the Blue Force Tracker.
  • Anti-Jamming System: Reduces Electronics Countermeasure by 25% (decrease skill level appropriately).
  • MRA 6 Radios: Allows real time, continuous radio link up with friendly forces in the area via satellite relay over laser radio signals, preventing jamming, and automatically encrypts/decrypts same to prevent eavesdropping.
  • Type-11 Wide Band Radio: Auxillery radio; Effective 10 mile range, auto encrypt/decrypt. Works on standard radio band wavelengths, so it can still be jammed (if the enemy knows the frequencies).
  • FLIR/SLIR: ForWard and Side Looking Infrared. Allows the robot to see targets at night.
  • Virtual Map: Displays a continuously-updating map of local terrain for the bridge. Takes data from and gives data to other friendly units in the area. Effective navigation of 85% as updates come. Good to 500 miles. Specific range can be adjusted in 10,000 mile increments.
  • Video Camera: Records from the HUD. 5,000 hours of recording available.
  • Full range optic sensory suite: Infrared, ultra violet, Magnification, night sight, color filters, thermal imager. Range is about 20 miles for MOST sensors.

    Combat Profile for BTL-41 Knucklehead:
  • 5 total attacks per melee.
  • +6 Strike.
  • +5 Dodge.
  • +3 Parry.
