| An Invid Clam Ship. |
---|
The primary platform of the Invid is the Clam Ship; They are capable of flying in the atmosphere, underwater, and in space and spacefold-equipped. Their three stern thrusters give it INCREDIBLE amounts of thrust and control. It opens like a clam for quick-disgorge, or with underside and topside egress ramps for more formal (and less intimidating) deployment. They have a vaguely discus-shaped craft with two blocky protuberances on the dorsal and ventral aspect and three large thrusters extending out the stern with an additional four maneuvering jets spaced equidistant around the rim of the hull's equator. Twelve smaller jets are distributed around the vessel. The two Mecha bays (one dorsal one ventral) take up the entire forward 85% of the vessel, each divided into four compartments (two starboard and port). The Mecha launch head-first under most circumstances, though with pre-positioning can actually be launched feet-first ("dropped") if necessary. To open the Mecha bays, the hull itself rotates up- or downwards, moving relatively aft towards the engineering spaces, similar to opening an oyster. Each bay holds hundreds of Mecha, all of which can be launched within seconds, greatly assisting the Invid numerical superiority-based tactics. Additionally, smaller Mecha-launching hatches, 8 in total, allow individual Mecha to launch at a rate of two per minute (these are mainly intended for in space abandonment).Name: Shelldor-Class DropShip.Nicknames:Clamship.Radio Identification Designator: Sierra Delta Tango.Model Type: DropShipCrew: 4Passengers: 457 tons of Mecha (type may vary).MDC By Location: |
*Main Thrusters (3)- Small Maneuvering Jets (12)- Large Maneuvering Jets (4)- | 500 each 100 each 200 each | **Anti-Gravity Domes (8)- Hull Regions (10)- ***Hull- | 300 each 200 each 2,000 |
Notes:* Destroying the main engines will severely impair the ship, forcing it to rely on its maneuvering thrusters and its anti-gravity engines. Reduce atmospheric speed by a quarter and rate of acceleration in space by 50%.** Destroying more then half of the anti-gravity domes will prevent the ship from leaving an Earth-like atmosphere and will reduce its atmospheric speed by 50%. If all of the domes are destroyed while the is in an atmosphere the ship will crash, and reduce rate of acceleration in space by 5% for each destroyed dome.*** Depleting the M.D.C. of the main body will shut down the entire ship, including life support, gravity control, communications, weapons, and engines. The command bridge will also be destroyed.Speed and Statistical Data: |
In Atmosphere: Mach 08. In Space: Mach 10. Underwater: 04 knots Clearance: 110 feet. Beam: 500 feet. Length: 600 feet. Weight: 140 tons.
| Cargo: A general arrangement is 120 Armored Scouts, 100 Shock Troopers, and 10 Pincers. Occasionally, this will include 2 less of each to be replaced with two Royal Battloids. Power System: Invid Protoculture technology. Cost and Availability: Not applicable; Available ONLY to the Invid, and NOBODY else. Black Market Cost and Availability: Possessing one part might well get you the death penalty. |
Weapons Systems: |
---|
1. Heavy Lasers: A pair of heavy lasers, one each dorsal and ventral, is used to defend the ship against enemy ships. Purpose: Attack MD: 6D6 times 10 per blast Rate of Fire: Up to twice per melee. Range: 100,000 feet. Payload: Unlimited. | 2. Full-Force Barrier Field: This shield completely envelops the ships providing protection from attack from any angle. Purpose: Defense MDC: 200 Range: 20 feet. Payload: Effectively unlimited until destroyed.
|
Features: |
- Radar: A general scan radar around the equator of the hull provides a 200,0003 mile area view, but with only a 20% of detecting Stealth craft.
- Targeting Radar: A pair of targeting radars toggled to the defense lasers only reaches 20 miles and coverage of a 1002 foot area.
- Protoculture Sensor: 98% chance of detecting general Protoculture sources, but can not detect Shadow Drives.
- ESM: Radar Detector. Passively detects other radars being operated.
- Full Range Sensory Suite: Infrared, ultra violet, Magnification, night sight, color filters, thermal imager. Range is about 2,000 miles for MOST sensors. Infrared: 20 miles, Magnification: 15 times; Ultra Violet: 22 miles, Magnification: 25 times; Night Vision: 24 miles, Magnification: 8 times; Color Filters: 19 miles, Magnification: 200 times; Thermal Imager: 10 miles; Magnification: 40 times
- Motion Detector: Activates a loud wailing when an object is coming at the user fast, and a soft ringing if it's coming slowly. Activation ranges must be specified by the pilot.
- FLIR/SLIR: Forward and Side Looking Infrared. Allows pilot and weapons officer to get visuals on targets at night.
| - HUD: Displays maps, radar, targeting information, and any OTHER information the pilot wants directly in front of him/her.
- ICS Radios: Invid Communications Systems Radio; Allows real time, continuous radio link up with friendly forces in the area, prevents jamming, and doesn't allow eavesdropping. Effective Range: 10 mile. Works on special energy bands that only be tapped by the Invid (this prevents eavesdropping).
- Blue Force Tracker: Identifies Friend from Foe. Overlays the information on both the radar and HUD, ensuring that friendly forces are not accidentally targeted.
- CBR Protection: Complete chemical, biohazard, and radiological protection.
- Vacuum Seal: Permits the ship to be used in hard vacuum (such as outer space), and other hostile environments.
- Internal temperature and humidity control: Automatically maintains occupants desired heat, humidity, and other personal comfort settings.
- Heat And Radiation Shielding: Special shielding prevents the penetration of life threatening heat and radiation.
- Oxygen Rebreather System: Extends crews air supply to 100 times; Cartridge MUST be replaced after that period of time.
