trainer" (with caricatures of them sporting training wheels). However, in recent years the Atorians have been producing a much higher quality platform; Improved motivators and armor have reduced weight making them far more effective. Whereas in the past Atorians would withdraw before RDF Power Armor, now they stand up even to Destroid if in sufficient numbers. Additionally, in the last few years the armor plating has been redesigned into a new style which was a significant improvement, aesthetically speaking, over the old practical plate armor model that had served the Atorians for so long. There is no indication that this change was anything other than aesthetic in nature, which is a minor riddle that no one seems to be taking seriously at this time. (G.M's- They should; The "purely aesthetic" changes are part of a renewed pride of heritage movement in the Atorian Forces, and the ability to make this newer armor is because of expanded industrial facilities. It also improved the protective coverage ever so slightly.)
In the last 10 years, Atorian power armors have been seen sporting Terran-inspired swords. While it makes very little militry difference, the style is an indicator of affiliation: A fur-lined basket style, based loosely on a Scottish style, indicates House of Youne; A Japanese Style tachi is the House of Poude; A rapier is the sword of the House of Gohde; A white-handled saber shows the owner to be a member of the House of Rihne. The Atorian Power Armor warriors are just as likely to use their swords as any long arms, the sheer fact of their use has given a few UGC analysts fits and a couple sleepless nights.
With the addition of better protection came better handling and electronics; Faster, more powerful, and overall deadlier. They still aren't quite as powerful as the Cyclone Series but are improving quickly (further proof that the Atorians are receiving help).
The original RMi-XXIV fission power plant has been replaced by an MlO-8 fusion power plant, meaning it's safer to use and is unlikely to damaged the environment if damaged. This powerplant was meant for the REF's use, and how the design got to the Ators is a matter of deep worry to the UGC's intelligence and security agencies; If the source is discovered, the cause may well find themselves hung without trial.
The new design still supports any energy-based weapon, but also includes power dots in the hands, effectively giving hand-held weapons unlimited capacity and maximum flexibility. They still have e-cables just in case.
The continued lack of integrated weapons system is puzzling to the UGC's best analysts, as the platform clearly WOULD support any normal PA weapons. No missiles, no guns, nothing is built in. Not even a small head laser more appropriate to ranging and bracketing. The more recent advent of built-in belt keeper attachment point, in the form of 04 metal bands 1.5" wide by 1/2" long and folded outward (to avoid chaffing the material) indicated broader use expectations, such as for internal security and enforcement, such as maintaining control over hostages ("slaves").
Also, the absence of any significant damage to units recovered by the UGC not attributed to the current operation indicates that front-line units are, in fact, new. Until about 50 years ago, the front-line units had shown extensive signs of wear and tear and pre-existing damage. What significance this has is unknown.

Weapons Systems:
1. E-cable: The power armor has no integral weapons; However, it does posses an e-cable on the left side, giving energy weapons an effectively unlimited payload. A common choise id the T'luaza Milldiem 281 Model Assault Rifle (available legally throughout the UGC).
Non-energy based weapons can also be used.

  • Radar: Combat grade radar. Range: 20 miles, can track up to 50 individual targets. 95% reliability (24% against unfriendly stealthed vehicles).
  • Full Range Sensory Suite: Infrared, ultra violet, Magnification, night sight, color filters, thermal imager. Range is about 20 miles for MOST sensors.
  • Type-11 wide band radios: Effective 10 mile range, auto encrypt/decrypt. Works on standard radio band wavelengths, so it can still be jammed (if the enemy knows the frequencies).
  • Loudspeaker: Amplifies voice 1 to 100 times. 100 feet in normal crowds.
  • Smoke Emitters (2): Emits enough smoke to cover an area about 203 feet in calm weather; Special chemicals block IR sensors and radar signals (scatters them so the enemy cant get a good fix), however does not totally interfere with enemy sensors (enemy is -2 strike).
  • CBR Protection: Complete chemical, biohazard, and radiological protection.
  • Vacuum Seal: Permits the Mecha to be used in hard vacuum (such as outer space), and other hostile environments.
  • Motion Detector: Activates a loud wailing when an object is coming at the user fast, and a sofeet ringing if it's coming slowly. Activation ranges must be specified by the pilot.
  • FLIR/SLIR: Forward and Side Looking Infrared. Allows pilot and weapons officer to get visuals on targets at night.
  • Mine Detector (in feet): Gives effective 85% Detect Mine/Trap OR increases skill by 10% for pilots that have that skill (whichever is more). Works on density composition, so non-metallic objects can't hide, and displays a visual assessment and danger probability (based on a mathematical formula) for the pilot on request.
  • Blue Force Tracker: Identifies Friend from Foe. Overlays the information on both the radar and HUD, ensuring that friendly forces are not accidentally targeted.
  • Video Recorder: Records from sensors and the cockpit itself. 500 hours of recording available.
  • GPS: Standard tracking device.
  • HUD: Displays maps, radar, targeting information, and any OTHER information the wearer wants directly in front of the user.
  • Virtual Map: Displays a continuously-updating map of local terrain for the pilot. Effective land navigation of 85% as updates come. Good to 50 miles. Specific range can be adjusted in 1 mile increments.
  • Oxygen Rebreather System: Extends pilots air supply to 100 hours; Cartridge MUST be replaced after that period of time.
  • Heat And Radiation Shielding: Special shielding prevents the penetration of life threatening heat and radiation.
  • Variable Tint Helmet Visor: Adjusts tinting to light conditions, up to an including a black dot if the sun is directly on the pilots face (only covers eyes).
