Based on stolen GARFISH-Class HSTC readouts with the turret removed, the Malcontent-Class ships are THE Atorian Ship-Of-The-Line, which says much about the Atorains. Sadly, for more than 3 centuries this limit of their power projection was
More recently they have been probing more hardened targets including a series of raids on Fantoma, Terra, and Tirol. These were assisted by advanced parties softening up the targets and approaching via a little observed route but that they made the raids is very unsettling to UGC militry planners, stealthing notwithstanding. The Atorians know they have no chance against the REF warships; Even small CDF battle stations are usually more than a match for them. However, the Malcontent-Class is a legitimate threat to civilian targets, and as pirates and slavers the Ators have had great success. In numbers, the Malcontent-Class may yet prove to be a serious threat to the UGC in the future. Systems: Hull: The hull is based directly on the GARFISH-Class Cruiser, though the hull plating is basic hardened steel. Powerplants: The primary powerplant is an APP-001 anti-matter reactor with a lifespan of 20 years. The secondary powerplant is a series of solar sails which will keep the ship running as long as they stay in a solar system. The solar sails tie directly to the emergency batteries which can keep the ship hovering on station up to 6 months by themselves. Though listed otherwise below, the ships can make one FTL transit using their batteries but then will have to stop and recharge them which will take between 3 weeks and 8 months during which time the crew will be required to wear their spacesuits (with the exception of eating) making impossible conditions by any measure. Also only essential personnel can be kept on board- If there's any passengers they will have to get off and for slaves that's a death sentence. Fortunately Atorians would generally prefer to accept any aid even if it means being taken by the Patrol than simply commit outright murder though they will rarely do any more than grant the Patrol permission to take the slaves off. If the batteries are used only for station keeping in orbit they can keep the ship running for up to 6 months without recharging, which can be extended indefiantely with the solar sails. Propulsion: Sublight: The main sublight propulsion is Atorian designed tractioning drives, with three auxiliary APP-993a and six APP-311 liquid-fueled thrusters capable of 1 million miles of travel at speed in additon to grav pods for launching from a planet. FTL: The FTL system is Atorian designed tractioning based system which sees service throughout the REF and Merchant Marine. Life Support: The ships have adequate life support for up to one year. This can be extended up to 5 years with food and medical equipment resupply. Weapons: Laser Turrets: Fehran tech can produce a poor-quality knock off of the T'sentraedi Light Laser turret arranged 2 dorsal and 1 ventral. Forward PBC: Most are knock-offs of T'sentraedi hardware, though the originals were the real thing scrounged from T'sentreadi warships. 4 Missile Launchers: Arranged two each in dorsal and ventral mounts, these are loaded with nuclear or anti-matter missiles. Only 40 missiles can be loaded up at any given times. A special reusable type for training is also available. Mecha and Fighters: The Malcontent-Class carries 5 assault shuttles that clips onto parasite docks, 20 aerospace fighters, 10 assault robots, and 100 power armors. Half of the aerospace fighters are also carried on parasite mounts. The numbers vary over time as the complement changes; With the general adoption of of the Ultimax Robot the numbers shifted to 150 Ultimaxes and 25 aerospace fighters, with another 5 aerospace fighter parasite docks bringing the total fighter compliment to 30. Strategic Implications: The Malcontent-Class Frigate has a mixed strategic implications; The ships are a legitimate threat and they are being produced in the kinds of numbers that the Atorians require, but compared to REF ships in quality and quantity simply can't keep up. Most customs cutters can match them in firepower, but in many systems can't match them in quantity and can only harass them long enough for a Spacy or Patrol response. Tech Updates: Starting in the 3590's the Atorians began equipping the class with a near perfect K.A.R.R. central processor clone and Cemuh Drive, increasing their abilities over 1,000%. A few hulls were surrendered to the UGC by defectors giving the REF an opportunity to examine the ships. These Block Ⅴ ships show few other improvements over previous ships, though the K.A.R.R./Cemuh Drive combination is quite impressive. Had this ship come out in this configuration in the first few decades of the INTERPLANETRY ALLIANCE in numbers equal to the larger Atorian fleet they might have been able to topple the alliance. Civilian Applications: None. The Malcontent-Class can't even be used by private security contractors. Captured hulls are sometimes fobbed off on various colonies or unallied systems the UGC is trying to help out, and even this is usually based on some request by the recipients for their own reasons. Receiving one otherwise is usually a sign of how how desperate the UGC is for hulls to give or how little the they value your friendship. Name: HORADISH-Class; Official U.G.C. designator is Atorian Malcontent-Class. Model Type: High-speed attack, patrol, and raider/slaver ship. Crew: 30 to 60, depending on the mission. Passengers: Up to 100 assault troops and prize crews. Official U.G.C. policy holds these are pirates and rebels. MDC By Location:

| FTL: Factor 12. Cruising/combat speed: Mach 25. Flying in atmosphere: Hover Stationary to Mach 25; Cruising speed in Mach 4 or less. Ceiling: Trans-Atmospheric. Surfaced and Underwater: Can use an improvised sail to maintain SOME sense of control in the event of a crash landing. A wrecked ship can float on the surface of the water, and crude sails can be improvised to provide MINIMAL control (-25% to pilot sailboat skill). However, it can NOT submerge, or it will sink. Clearance: 120 feet. Beam: 250 feet. Length: 400 feet. | Weight: 92,870 tons. Cargo: Up to ½M tons of cargo and loot, and up to 50,000 slaves can safely be brought on board. Power System: Primary: APP-001 (Anti-Matter) Lifespan: 20 years. Secondary: Solar Sails Lifespan: Unlimited, but the ship will not have FTL capabilities. Tertiary: Batteries Lifespan: 6 months, and can NOT fly. It can hold station over a gravity well, however, to serve as a massive life-pod. Cost and Availability: 50M€/Occasionally available. Black Market Cost and Availability: Not available; Nobody wants this junk. | ||||

| 1. Laser Turrets: Fehran tech can only BARELY produce a poor-quality knock off of the T'sentraedi Light Laser turret. They are arranged 2 dorsal, 1 ventral. Purpose: Defense/Anti-Missile/Fighter MD: 2D6×10 per blast. Rate of Fire: Twice per melee. Range: 4,000 feet (double in space) Payload: Unlimited 2. Forward PBC: Also a knock-off of T'sentraedi hardware, most of these are actually the real thing, scrounged off of T'sen warships. MD: 1D4×1,000 Rate of Fire: Once every other melee Range: 100,000 miles (double in space) Payload: Unlimited | 3. 4 Missile Launchers: 2 dorsal, 2 ventral Missile Type: Nuclear or Anti-Matter only. (See payload). Purpose: Assault/Anti-Ship/City MD: Nuclear: 3D6×10 Anti-Matter: 2D10×1,000 Rate of Fire: Once per melee per tube. Range: 1,800 miles Payload: 40 total. If Anti-Matter missiles are in inventory (only 1% have these weapons), there will ONLY be 4 of them. 4. Mecha and Fighters: 20 Fehran Aero-Space Fighters 10 Fehran Assault Robots 100 Fehran Power Armors 5 Assault Shuttles (clips on like a parasite). | ||||

01-50: Enemy missile or missile volley detonates in chaff cloud - Missiles are all destroyed 51-75: Enemy missile or missile volley loses track of real target and veers away in wrong direction (may lock onto another target). 76-00: No effect, missile is still on target. | Effects: The decoy has a 98% chance of fooling ordinary non militry radars and non smart guided missiles, and a 90% chance of fooling militry grade radars and advanced smart missiles. Range: Released to go wherever it wants. Can fly independently for about 30 minutes. Rate of fire: 2 every melee. Payload: 16 Decoys each pod.
| Features Update 3590: Starting in the 3320's the Malcontent-Class began fielding stealthing technology. Older ships were refitted with the tech, newer ships came out of the yards already so equipped. Effective Prowl of 75% to about 20,000 miles from the radar and other sensors. This is a general stealth; Once a targeting radar is locked on it's not particularly useful. | |||||
