AN ORDINARY WATER BUFFALO.
An Ordinary M-200 Water Buffalo- The most unordinary thing there is.
Amazingly, the single most important piece of gear on the modern battlefield, more important than the high tech gear, more important than bullets, even more important than beans- Is water. Clean, potable water. The average soldier can only survive about 3 to 5 days without water under normal battlefield conditions; And dying of dehydration is one of the worst ways to die.
The REF began ordering portable, high-capacity water tanks, also called "water buffalos," equipped with both standard tech rubber tired-wheels and grav pods, allowing them extended off-road capabilities (actually, almost unlimited off-road capabilities). The water buffalos must be plugged into a vehicle of some sort for the grav pods to energize, but then they have to be plugged in anyways for turn signals, etc. They do, however, have top-mounted solar panels, which power a filtration and cooling system, keeping the water cool (not cold) and disease-free. They also have batteries that can keep the system running for up to a month in pitch-darkness (three times as long, if the cooling system is shut down), and can be plugged into standard AC power.
NOTE: Though it seems frivolous, the presence of water buffalos here is actually quite pointed; More than once, water supplies have been interrupted and/or destroyed (sometimes by poisons) to compel surrender or simply to kill the enemy. Indeed, in more than one siege have in part won by the attacker because they specifically targeted the city's civil water supply, then attacked the water buffalos with targeted mortar strikes- Including the fall of Sienna (FBX).

Weapons Systems:
None; A few highly desperate groups have filled water buffalos and similar units with various explosives and etc turning them into rolling bombs, but that's not a good idea; Stats on such units vary wildly, not just from maker to maker but unit to unit, based on the maker's skill, supplies, tools, interest, intentions, and etc.
Features:
  • Water Tank: The M-200 can hold about 500 gallons of water.
  • Chiller Unit: Cools the water to around 65 degrees (exact temperature can be adjusted by the user).
  • Filter Unit: Actually boils the water, then condenses the steam back into the tank.
  • Top Hatch: A 2 ft. wide hatch in the top allows water to be "loose poured" (filled without controls) into the tank.
  • Cross-Connect Caps: Allows the tanks to be connected directly to moisture vaporators, fire hydrants, etc. Adapters allow them to connect to just about any water source, with the exception of very rare, non-standard lines (then the flex-tubes can be used, but it's best to simply stick the tube in the hatch).
Combat Profile: Water Buffalos have only one combat profile; You could hide behind it once the bullets start flying- For whatever that's worth.
